2nd Shift Maintenance Technician
American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 450+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician role in the Pella, IA.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- MAINTENANCE FUNCTIONS
- Study blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering specifications to maintain and fix equipment
- Troubleshoot issues for machinery or equipment throughout the plant
- Install new machinery
- Perform basic diagnostic tests
- Check and verify machine performance
- Dismantle machine and remove parts for repair using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists
- Test damaged machine parts
- Replace any damaged and worn parts if necessary
- Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work
- Clean and lubricate machinery
- Keep records of repair and maintenance work
- Work with the production personnel to schedule preventative and break-down maintenance
- Perform root cause analysis for any abnormal conditions/failures, take required corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence of such conditions
- Welding – TIG, MIG, OXY-Acetylene
- Install and maintain electrical motors, industrial drives, PLC’s, VFD’s, and MCC’s
- Troubleshooting a 24-volt and 120-volt control systems
- Run/bend conduit and pulling wire
- Read electrical schematics for 24VDC, 120, and 480-volt voltage and control circuits
- Repair and maintain all electric and control functions within the facility
- Install and maintain various electric controls, automation, and instrumentation
- Maintenance and repair of van, container, and walking floor semi-trailer
- QUALITY
- Maintain and verify that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated to supervisors, production employees, office personnel, and customers
- Assist in the implementation of new procedures as needed
- Maintain proper equipment records
- SAFETY
- Operate equipment as per the SOP, following directions as provided
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Utilize all of the PPE as required by the task being performed
- Enforce safety within the workplace by participating in safety-related improvements
- Follow safety protocols for the use of all equipment
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel and Word)
- Programming (a plus)
- Lifting up to 50lbs.
- Climbing ladders
- Ability to operate forklifts and man-lifts
- Ability to work at heights up to 120ft.
- Ability to use welding equipment
- Ability to kneel, bend, work with arms raised over head, work on back, and underneath equipment
- Working on 24VDC, 120V and 480V electrical systems
EXPERIENCE LEVEL
- Minimum of 1 year Industrial maintenance (required)
- Minimum of 1 year Mechanical knowledge (required)
COMPENSATION
$20.00-$28.00 per hour
