The High-Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) team is at the forefront of radiated and conducted energy delivery systems from prime power to applications. CAD Drafter to support rapid Manufacturing activities in Colorado Springs, CO.
Job Responsibilities
- Collects data and create design plans for program needs.
- Responsible for taking field notes, pictures and measurement data to complete design plans and redesigns utilizing SolidWorks.
- Collaborates with other Designers, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Machinists and Program Managers.
- Transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using computer aided design (CAD).
- Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure quality assurance.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to resolve design discrepancies.
- Provides routine drafting support, prepares various drawings and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints and sketches.
- Coordinates and consults with engineering team to complete projects.
- Prepares creative designs or related drawings or details; uses designs to develop specifications or estimates of materials needed for a project.
- Create detail and assembly drawings from SolidWorks part and assembly files.
- Update and maintain current CAD Designs.
- Participate with engineering teams to conceptualize new design ideas.
- Assist with creating prototypes and 3D models, product testing and validation.
- Responsible for creating and updating SolidWorks drawing templates.
- Update and maintain Standard Drafting Procedures for the department.
- Create engineering drawing documentation packages for finalized products.
- Assist in preparing drawings and part files for manufacturing.
Requirements
- Associates or bachelor’s degree.
- 2+ years of related experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Experience creating SolidWorks Templates.
Preferred Skills
- Active security clearance desired.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM.
