Under the direction of the Executive Director for Student Equity & Inclusion, the Academic Equity Coordinator works with students who are a part of Mission, Values, and Inclusion leadership programs, such as Community Scholar Program and Emerging Leaders Program. The Academic Equity Success Coordinator will provide students with information and academic resources to help support their academic and personal development and success.

The Academic Equity Success Coordinator is a part-time, 20 hours/week position.



Responsibilities:

  • Assists with monitoring the academic progress of students in Community Scholars Program and Emerging Leaders program via check-ins, scheduled meetings proactive outreach and communication while responding to students’ questions and concerns
  • Assist with the outreach to students who receive academic alerts, and aide with academic interventions via scheduled meetings and targeted outreach
  • Serves as a mentor for Community Scholars and Emerging Leaders through individual or group sessions and helps students assess their performance and progress toward their academic and professional goals
  • Partner with the Executive Director for Student Equity & Inclusion to assist with academic retention initiatives and engagement activities
  • Collaborates with Mission, Values & Inclusion to create greater awareness of post graduate opportunities at Edgewood College and other post graduate institutions
  • Assists students in developing self-efficacy by identifying and overcoming obstacles that may be impeding academic success
  • Refers students to appropriate academic personnel and support resources and serves as a liaison to help students navigate potentially confusing aspects of campus. While ensuring students can find appropriate campus resources that support their retention and persistence.
  • Work with the Executive Director for Student Equity & Inclusion to identify barriers to academic persistence and retention
  • Assist students who have incomplete’s or have been academically dismissed with developing a plan to return to good academic standing at the college

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Three years of experience higher education setting, such as advising, career services, financial aid, admissions, student success, counseling, or student affairs office.
  • Experience working with diverse college student populations including first-generation college students and BIPOC students
  • Experience with academic and/or social support for first-generation, low-income and/or BIPOC students
  • Demonstrated advising and/or counseling skills desirable
