The Appalachian Challenge Academy is hiring an Academic Instructor that plans and conducts classroom activities of GED and High School credit recovery students within a Youth Challenge Program.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
The Appalachian Challenge Academy is hiring an Academic Instructor that plans and conducts classroom activities of GED and High School credit recovery students within a Youth Challenge Program.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Plan and conduct classroom GED instruction on a daily basis.
- Evaluate and record student performance; enter results in DMARS and prepare cadet and parent academic performance counseling documents; conduct individual cadet counseling.
- Conduct post classroom tutoring of students to maximize academic achievement.
- Complete required self improvement training with Kentucky Adult Education, National Challenge Institute and other necessary performance enhancing courses.
- Participate in off campus events relating to cadet improvement and intellectual development including but not limited to Service to Community efforts, physical challenge training, historic site visits, cultural exposures, etc.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have three years of classroom instruction, administrative, or management experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A Master's degree will substitute for the experience on a year-for-basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: None
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): None
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a classroom and may require occasional travel throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky and various national sites.
