EMR is a global leader in metal recycling. We are privately owned with a heritage dating back to the 1940s and employ almost 3500 people operating at 150 locations around the world.

Our core business is the recycling of scrap metal from a range of sources such as End-of-Life vehicles/consumer products, industry, construction and demolition. This results in sales of recycled commodities of around 10 million tons a year. We have extensive ferrous and non-ferrous operations worldwide and produce over 100 grades of high quality recycled materials, which are taken to market by our substantial road, rail and shipping network.

Supporting our core activities are a range of specialist divisions including industrial clearance, total waste management, ship breaking, servicing local government service providers, solder production, cable, copper and aluminum granulation facilities and environmental consultancy. Also, through our own and our joint venture activities we are working towards becoming a zero waste company.

Your next step could be a Commercial Representative who will be responsible for the purchase of Ferrous and Nonferrous metals, while maintaining customer relationships, and introducing a marketing plan to meet customer expectations. Source commodities from lead generation through servicing and maintaining the account and work with buying/sourcing operations to support teams to ensure customer satisfaction that leads to meeting targets for revenue growth and increased margin

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for purchases of ferrous and non-ferrous metal
  • Investigates new potential sources of consumers of scrap metal. Buys from retail, dealer, light industrial customers, repair shops, demolition projects, clean-ups, etc.
  • Participates in a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, direct mail, email & networking
  • Owns internal and external customer service relating to ferrous or non-ferrous business
  • Develops the growth of business activities and profit with assigned accounts
  • Maximizes all opportunities in the process of closing a deal, resulting in the taking of market share from competitors
  • Provide solutions to companies to improve and maximize scrap recovery
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding buying/sourcing quotas
  • Visits customers on a regular basis and maintain systemic data to record account history
  • Must be able to travel within assigned region and other areas as needed
  • Available for travel up to 30% of the time
  • Maintains accurate records of all buying/sourcing and prospecting activities including closed sales and follow-up activities

You are Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or High School Diploma or GED required
