Under general direction from the Director of Apparel, the Account Manager is responsible for growing our Bauer lifestyle apparel category into new channels of business. This role will collaborate with the sales leadership team to expand lifestyle within a defined set of existing business. The successful candidate will manage relationships and will be responsible for market/consumer understanding and research, as well as order book and financial management.

The Account Manager – Lifestyle Apparel will be responsible for these key areas:

Business Development

  • Expand Bauer lifestyle product line to new channels of distribution
  • Grow lifestyle category within subset of existing accounts
  • Work closely with current global sales leadership on driving growth initiatives
  • Understand and analyze opportunities to ensure profitability
  • Communicate Bauer lifestyle vision internally and with external partners
  • Actively participate in Go to Market planning and execution

Market, Consumer & Category Knowledge:

  • Utilize data, information systems, and metrics around financial, brand, and sell-through trends to maximize market share, sales, and profits.
  • Utilize best-in-class insights to influence customer strategies as they relate to consumer purchase behavior and to maximize Open-to-Buy and commercial opportunities.
  • Review POS, where available, and elevate concerns or insights from the field to appropriate category & sales management.
  • Apply understanding of product portfolio, brand positioning, brand vision to category / product sell-in and sell-through.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Manage relationship with buyers and key influencers at the customer level.
  • Find creative approaches to create wins in difficult situations.
  • Partner with the Brand team to create and build the product / merchandise assortment.
  • Establish trust and credibility by demonstrating clear understanding of how the customer defines value and leverage this knowledge along with consumer insights and the strength of our brands to maximize value for Bauer Hockey and the customer.
  • Address customer concerns/needs and elevate as appropriate to sales management.

Order Book & Financial Management:

  • Deliver sales revenue and profitability targets as defined by Director of Apparel.
  • Build customer relationships at the Buyer/Analyst and Divisional Manager levels and facilitate connectivity in other functional areas.
  • Negotiate and manage trade funds to create customer and company value by consistently measuring and enforcing trade terms and identifying opportunities for improvement in conjunction with sales
  • Manage programs and promotional funding to maximize top and bottom line results.
  • Work internally with demand planning to develop sales forecasts and achieve specified levels of seasonal forecast accuracy. Monitor our market share & competitor market share to better understand consumer/shopper trends and detect opportunities. Act on those opportunities by partnering with channel marketing to develop a plan to convert into incremental profits.
  • Participate in the development of the booking calendar and ensure a balance exists between the customer’s needs and Bauer’s set processes bringing forward unique needs of lifestyle customer base.
  • Proactively review projected service levels coming from the planning team and address potential issues early in the process with the customers. Create alternative solutions together with Supply Chain and Customer Service to mitigate ramifications.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5-7 years of apparel sales experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience developing new business and launching new product lines/distribution channels
  • Outdoor and/or Sporting Goods industry experience preferred
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to take on initiatives & execute
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and exceptional drive for results.
  • Solid analytical skills and acute attention to details.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have strong written and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
