Ward Feed Yard is seeking a bookkeeper/accountant for the feedyard located in Larned, KS.
Job Overview: As a bookkeeper, you will be responsible for the administrative office tasks within a feedlot. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy in record-keeping and communication with various stakeholders, including feedlot managers, suppliers, buyers, and finance departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records
- Review and reconcile supplier and buyer invoices
- Collaborate with finance departments to ensure timely payment of invoices and accuracy of accounting records
- Communicate regularly with feedlot managers and stakeholders to provide updates on inventory, sales, and market conditions
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other office software
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Familiarity with commodity markets and the livestock industry preferred but not required, willing to train the right candidate
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies

Working Conditions: The Bookkeeper/Accountant will work in an office environment within a feedlot. This position requires working with a computer and other office equipment for extended periods of time. The role may require working early mornings, evenings, and weekends as necessary. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided, and safety guidelines and procedures must be followed at all times.
