Overview

We seek a highly motivated, innovative, and inclusive staff member to join our Accounting and Reporting team!

The primary functions of this group are financial reporting, preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Financial Awards (SEFA), and monthly fund reviews.

The Larimer County Finance Department takes pride in providing a thoughtful approach to customer department needs while maintaining excellent standards in financial reporting and adhering to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Responsibilities

Specifically, this position will:

  • Reconcile accounting transactions, balance sheet activity and prepare adjusting journal entries as necessary
  • Collaborate with other County departments on financial and accounting matters, including grant compliance and reporting
  • Read, interpret, and apply generally accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting standards, and federal and state grant reporting requirements, including Uniform Guidance
  • Maintain accounting files by reviewing and analyzing various accounting transactions for accuracy and propriety. This includes monthly reviews of assigned funds
  • Monitor and assist with accounting and grant reporting activities of the County’s disaster response fund
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements
  • Assist in providing documentation for annual audit

  • Possess an intermediate level of knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the use of basic formulas
  • Summarize and present complex information in an understandable manner

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Understand the importance of accurate and useful financial information
  • Provide outstanding customer service to other County departments
  • Successfully plan, manage, evaluate, and adjust multiple priorities
  • Look for ways to increase efficiencies and keep an open mind when presented with innovative ideas

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

  • Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in accounting required.
  • Three years of relevant experience required.

We offer hybrid work schedules! This position enjoys a balance of working independently and with a team.
