MDOT MAA is currently accepting applications for the position of Fixed Asset Accountant (Accountant II) within the Office of Finance at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall Airport).The Fixed Asset Accountant is tasked with the responsibility of program management oversight and coordination of various components of the Fixed Asset program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Recording and accounting for fixed assets and property and recording these assets into the MDOT Financial Management Information System (FMIS) for reporting and monitoring purposes.
  • Ensuring that assets and property that are purchased are recorded timely and properly by capturing all newly purchased fixed assets and property with comprehensive property record information.
  • Coordinating the inter-agency transfer of excess property.
  • Managing the annual fixed asset inventory and advising the fifty (50) Accountability Officers in the different Departments throughout the MDOT MAA; and
  • Developing, maintaining, and monitoring all MDOT MAA fixed assets and property, their location, dollar amount, transfers of assets and property, disposed assets and property and missing and/or stolen assets and property.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.

Experience: Two (2) years of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records, and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles. *Two (2) of this experience must include working with fixed assets accounting and general ledger.

  • This statement contains a Selective Qualification, which is more focused in scope than the Minimum Qualifications for this classification. Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skills, or abilities).

Notes:
  • Candidates may substitute a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with thirty credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing, for the required education.
  • Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.
  • Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
  • Applicants may substitute one year of professional auditing experience for one year of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in the Accounting Officer classification or Financial Management specialty codes in the Accounting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience
