Job Description
Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for the position of Accounting Assistant III. The Accounting Assistant III will perform the highest-level clerical accounting work which requires applying discretion and independent judgment, when reviewing and verifying account related information, interpreting, and applying guidelines and extracting and evaluating account information/data to make decisions and monitor various accounts.

Position Responsibilities:
- Counseling student/parents as it relates to tuition accounts
- Third party contract processing
- Cashiering, account adjustments and deposit corrections
- Handle the application of scholarships to student accounts
- Review student accounts on a regular basis to assure account key indicators and other information is current
- Grant in Aid and waiver processing
- Research, resolution, and communication of student account inquiries and on-going student account status review
- Other duties as assigned within work standards
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial to data prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Preferred Qualifications:
- General knowledge of bookkeeping methods and procedures related to accounts receivable functions sufficient to recognize discrepancies, inconsistencies, and errors
- Good communication skills
- Working experience with higher education student, financial, and billing/payment systems
- Cashiering experience
- Customer service experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Salary & Benefits
Budgeted salary for this position is $37,166.40. Nevada State College offers excellent benefits, including an excellent retirement plan, generous vacation & sick benefits, 11 paid holidays, educational benefits, and a choice between three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts. No relocation assistance is provided for this position.
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
