About Shiloh Administrative Staff

Shiloh Administrative Staff (SAS), under the leadership of the Church Administrative Officer, manages, rents and maintains the facilities/properties. This includes monitoring the buildings to provide safe and pleasant conditions. SAS maintains member and congregant records. SAS ensures adherence to local, state and federal regulation. Finally, SAS is responsible for the accounting functions of the church and its related entities. This includes providing interim financial statements and facilitating the annual audit process which results in the issuance of the audited financial statement. The accounting functions implicit in the preparation of financial statements, such as disbursements and income allocation, are also under the preview of SAS.

About the Accounting Team

The Accounting Team is part of the Shiloh Administrative Staff. The Accounting Team provides monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements to include an annual audited financial statement. The Accounting Team adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). We are custodians to sensitive information and are careful to maintain reasonable and secure practices.

The Accounting Team is the first line of defense for asset protection. We establish, convey, and ensure that the Accounting and Financial Policies of the church prevent error, theft and/or fraud. These practices include logging the chain of possession for cash receipts and monthly bank reconciliations. Further, financial activity is regularly reviewed by Finance Committee members. The Accounting Team works collaboratively, with internal review policies to mitigate errors. We ensure appropriate division of duties to make Shiloh an unattractive target.

We accurately and timely report the financial activity to empower leadership and stakeholders. We work with leadership to use the financial activity and strategic planning to forecast and budget.

About the Accounting Associate

SAS seeks an Accounting Associate to join its Accounting Team. The Accounting Team, led by the Controller, processes disbursements, allocates incoming contributions and cash, provides timely and accurate financial statements. This role requires access to sensitive information. As such, discretion and the highest standards of integrity are required.

The ideal candidate will have a positive approach and maintain a high level of accuracy. Professionalism and poise are crucial when entrusted with the financial activity of Shiloh Baptist Church.

The Accounting Associate engages often with key stakeholders. Diplomacy is required when negotiating the business of the church. Further, proving to be a reliable member of the team by meeting deadlines and maintaining communication to manage expectations for deliverables is necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processing weekly disbursements accurately and timely.
  • Track recurring monthly bills to avoid late charges.
  • Reconcile monthly and quarterly bank accounts.
  • Adhere to and update the Month-End Script.
  • Review and post contribution data in Church Management Software.
  • Enter contribution summary information in QuickBooksOnline.
  • Maintain auxiliary account reports.
  • Collaborate with the Event and Media Coordinator to report monthly rental/facility use income and activity.
  • Assist the Executive Assistant to the Church Administrative Officer in providing receipts for the Church Administrative Officer’s corporate card.
  • Prepare monthly Accounting Team Reports to Executive Assistant to the Church Administrative Officer.
  • Under the supervision of the Controller, assist with facilitating the annual audit.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects, as needed.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Proficient in use of QuickBooksOnline.
  • High level of computer proficiency; working knowledge of Office Suite (especially Word and Excel), Adobe Acrobat Pro, etc. as well as interest and ability to learn new technology platforms and systems. Church Management Software proficiency is preferred, but not necessary
  • Prior accounts payable experience is required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required (appropriate experience in lieu of degree considered)
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail, impeccable follow-up skills, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Flexible, responsible, and resourceful, with strong time-management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Commitment to excellence - perform duties at the highest level possible on a consistent basis
  • Contribute positively to the overall morale of the SAS

Pay: $48,437.00 - $52,595.00 per year
