Job Opening: Accounts Receivable and Collections Representative

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

In this role you will be accountable for supporting accounting and collections efforts to ensure efficient and timely receipt of payments from Medicare plans, secondary insurance, and customers. Typical responsibilities associated with this position are:
- Reconciliation of Medicare B claims and secondary insurance payments
- Review explanations of benefits (EOBs) against payments received for incorrect or inconsistencies in reimbursement.
- Initiate collection procedures on patient responsibility amounts private party billing as indicated by the EOB.
- Notifies management regarding claim rejections
- Communicates payer trends to management.
- Requests supporting medical chart documentation from provider for new pharmacy Medicare customers, ensuring that medical necessity is established as related to the services rendered by the pharmacy.
- Responds back to outside party (agencies, social service entities, landlords) requests for verification of customer information as permitted by company policy.
- Provides customer service by phone to customers and pharmacy staff, including answering account questions and taking credit/debit account payment information
- Assists with month end billing and invoicing to customers
- Assists with preparing daily bank deposits containing payments from third-party payors and customers; prepares deposit details for posting and reconciliation
- Supports collection efforts on past due customer accounts by contacting customers and establishing payment arrangements

In addition to being organized, thorough, attentive to detail, an effective communicator, and customer oriented the right person for this position will also have:
- Working knowledge and experience directly related to medical billing, including reading medical charts and HCPS coding.
- Working knowledge and experience with typical medical terminology
- High school diploma or equivalent, post secondary education in accounting is a plus
- Understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping procedures
Prior to beginning work, successful applicants must complete a background check consisting of criminal records check, Medicare/Medicaid exclusions check, employment verification, education verification, drug test, licensure/certification verification, and DMV motor vehicle record check, as applicable.
