Activities Assistant Job at Pine Run Retirement Community
Pine Run Retirement Community, a member of Doylestown Health is hiring a full-time Life Enrichment Associate (Activities Assistant) for our Skilled Nursing department.
Hours: M-F 9am-5:30pm
POSITION SUMMARY: Facilitates a therapeutic recreation program for residents to improve their physical, mental and social well-being. Does appropriate documentation.
B. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Meets Resident’s Goals
1. Facilitates a variety of activities for each level of care; in groups and Provides Quality Care
2. Performs administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports and submitting such to Director of Life
Enrichment.
3. Interacts with residents or family members to obtain activity information.
4. Ensures that department work areas are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner.
5. Develops and maintains a good rapport with all services involved with the care plan to ensure that a team effort is achieved in developing a comprehensive plan of care.
Exhibits Professional
1. Demonstrates understanding and complies with Pine Run's BehaviorExposure Prevention Plan for occupational exposure of blood borne pathogens.
2. Adheres to Pine Run Policies and Procedures, and Fire/Disaster Plan.
3. Attends meetings, including departmental, as scheduled or as may be called.
4. Maintains an excellent working relationship with other departments and assists with resident ADL’s as needed.
5. Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information.
6. Demonstrates ability to be flexible and to adapt to change.
C. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs other LE duties of a creative nature as assigned.
2. Coordinates activities with other departments as necessary.
3. Recommends to the Life Enrichment Director the equipment and supply needs of the LE department.
4. Assists in planning parties and providing games/activities for residents.

E. EQUIPMENT USED:
Equipment utilized involves clerical, musical, artistic and restorative physical equipment.
G. JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must pass required health screen and testing before employment begins and yearly thereafter, as applicable to the position.
2. Must have an acceptable criminal history report as defined by the Older Adults Protective Services Act and its amendments.
3. Two years experience working with the older adult or mentally impaired, and a commitment to further education preferred.
4. Must display dependability, creativity and mature independence. Have patience, tact, flexibility, and diplomacy.
5. Written and verbal ability to communicate effectively regarding residents' progress and condition of functioning with staff and family members.
6. Must be able to push wheelchairs and assist with activities of daily living.
7. Flexibility to rotate weekends and work occasional evenings.
8. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
9. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
10. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
11. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, hostile people within the facility.
12. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
13. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
