Abrams Assisted Living is an affordable senior living community, offering 54 private studio apartments designed to serve residents of the District of Columbia who are age 62+, need housing, need assistance with their activities of daily living, and have extremely low income.
Located in the heart of Upper Northwest DC at The Parks at Walter Reed, a 66-acre redevelopment of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Abrams Assisted Living is scheduled to open in June 2022.

We are currently searching for Abrams Assisted Living Resident Services Director.
The primary responsibility for this position is to plan and coordinate activities, transportation, and housekeeping programs for the community. The secondary responsibility for this position is to oversee staff management of the Resident Services Department and all Resident Services Assistants.

Resident Services Director Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages Resident Services Assistants and their schedules and makes assignments appropriate to the needs of the building.
- Provide appropriate orientation and training for all new employees.
- Maintain a consistent level of professionalism with residents, family members, and staff.
- Develop, coordinate, plan, implement and maintain a balanced program of activity that incorporates within the scope of the monthly calendar, the holistic principles structured on the improvement of each individual’s spirit, mind, and body.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date resident documentation.
- Initiate contacts and maintain community relationships with groups such as the public library, school systems, support and special interest groups, churches and community centers and youth groups.
- Meet with families/residents to complete resident life stories.
- Prepare all professional documentation necessary to comply with state, federal, and local regulations.
- Develop and maintain a yearly budget staying within budgetary guidelines.
- Assist with community special events as requested by the Executive Director.
- Coordinates and schedules all community transportation needs to include scheduled and unscheduled, group, and individual requests.
- Responsible for ensuring and coordinating the overall cleanliness of the Community, as well as, helping to maintain a professional, safe, secure environment for staff and residents.
- Coordinates and schedules Resident Services Assistant cleaning activities for apartments.
- Works in conjunction with the Dining Services Director to oversee and manage Resident Services Assistants to ensure a high-quality dining experience is established and maintained.
- Participate in the Manager on Duty (MOD) rotation as scheduled for the community.
- Attend management team and other necessary meetings.

Resident Services Director Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience in working with older adults.
- Ability to communicate effectively at a professional level in writing and verbally.
- Able to manage several tasks at the same time.
- Must be able to relate well to residents, families, and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner in all circumstances.
- Ability to use Electronic Health Records, specifically PointClickCare.
- Must be computer literate and be efficient in the use of:
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft SharePoint
Ability to use the internet for research and emailing

Resident Services Director Qualifications
- Should be either a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist, have 2 years of experience as an activity professional, or be eligible for certification by a recognized accrediting body.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
