POSITION SUMMARY

Provide the overall vision, development, implementation, and leadership of the Activities during the winter and summer Season at Snowshoe Mountain, focusing on Big Top Operations and Village Activities. Provide support and direction to the staff to ensure the daily activities support the goals and mission of Snowshoe Mountain, meet, and exceed the expectations of our guest and achieve a positive financial result

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Plan and implement the winter and summer activities, to include the Big Top and Village Activities
  • Assisting in the development, growth, and execution of Village activities and Big Top
  • Arrange and schedule maintenance or repairs to any equipment or attractions
  • Purchasing needed equipment and resources for scheduled inspection are met
  • Defining expenses based on established action items
  • Working with resort marketing department to get timely production of any needed collateral
  • Coordinating with Events staff to develop additional activities during events periods
  • Assist with the production of event activities when deemed necessary
  • Participate with interviews of prospective employees, conduct employment verification for the hiring process
  • Responsible for departmental change funds for Big Top and Village Activities
  • Ensure that all training procedures on the operation and safety of Climbing Wall and Eurobungy are met
  • Completes village activities and objectives by meeting project completion goals to open Village and Big Top taking an active role in the daily operations and SOP creation
  • Assist department managers in driving revenue by supervising administrative functions pertaining to interviewing, scheduling, time-keeping, performance reviews and coaching and/or discipline
  • Tracking of weekly revenue, participation and visits to the Village
  • Scheduling staff and coordinating daily operational procedures and communicating with managers about business demands
  • Creating and implementing new activities revenue opportunities for Village and Big Top
  • Utilizing the correct procedures for purchasing supplies, food and entertainment
  • Acts as a functional member of the village activates team by being a versatile worker
  • Effectively assisting other departments as needed, specifically during World Class Events
  • Ensure the successful execution of village activities and Big Top by coordinating and assisting with set up and breakdown of all Village activities and Big Top scheduling, prioritizing and coordinating projects and tasks
  • Assisting with development and planning of events, animation activities and other projects
  • Providing input and support through participation in weekly meetings and wrap-ups
  • Planning and executing alternate village set up plans in the event of inclement weather
  • Minimizes resort liability and risk by negotiating contracts with entertainers, contractors and hired services
  • Adhering to company safety and liability policies and procedures
  • Safety inspections on all State permitted attractions

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or GED; Hospitality Studies Public Relations or a related field preferred

Experience: Basic computer skills required, organizing/coordinating groups, activities or events

Length of Experience: 12 months

Supervisory Responsibilities

The incumbent will carry out the supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; resolving problems; scheduling, hiring and termination of employees.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbent will be required to work a flexible schedule which may include early mornings, late evenings, and or weekends. Weather patterns will play a role in work schedules.

Office Environment :
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on and occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

Mountain Environment:
  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
