Acupuncturist (Casual) Job at Hennepin Healthcare
Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital. The comprehensive healthcare system includes a 484-bed academic medical center, a large outpatient Clinic & Specialty Center, and a network of primary and specialty care clinics in Minneapolis and in suburban communities. Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a casual Acupuncturist. This position will cover leaves, vacation and other vacancies at the Clinic & Specialty Center, Golden Valley, Brooklyn Park, Whittier, North Loop or St. Anthony clinic. Under the guidance of the medical director and in accordance with the scope of practice, the Acupuncturist will evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with health conditions primarily related to musculoskeletal conditions, administering acupuncture therapy safely and effectively to diverse patient populations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) care to adult and pediatric patients as part of the Division of Integrative Health
- Perform initial and on-going assessment of patients’ physical and psychosocial status
- Use TCM theory to assess and diagnose patients, obtain and evaluate health history, recommend and provide TCM treatments
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of observations, interventions, plan of care, referrals and follow-up
- Formulate appropriate differential diagnosis based on Traditional Chinese Medicine
- Identify needs of the individual and develop a plan of care or education plan
- Make appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies
- Reassess and modify the plan of care as necessary to achieve health goals
- Contribute as needed to on-going medical and nursing staff teaching programs
- Support new and existing programs which expand the organizations’ role in the community
- Develop a patient education plan relevant to the patients’ condition and family needs
- Participate in performance improvement activities
- Adhere to productivity standards established by the organization
- Perform other related duties with appropriate training
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have education at a level that qualifies for national board certification in acupuncture from the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)
- Must have at least one year of experience in the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine
- Must hold a valid license to practice acupuncture in the state of Minnesota.
- Must have valid national board certification in Acupuncture from the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)
Preferred Qualifications:
- BLS/ CPR certificate ready
- Experience with electronic health records preferred
- Additional certifications in specific areas such as women’s health, sports medicine or other areas will be encouraged
- Positions at Hennepin Healthcare are credentialed by the Office of the Medical Staff in accordance with their policies.
