Job Summary
Start: Spring Semester - January 2023
PVCC is seeking an adjunct who Instructs students from diverse backgrounds and/or cultures in criminalistics classes and in accordance with the college’s learning-centered philosophy. Serves as an adjunct instructor for Criminalistics: Physical Evidence (AJS 215) and Criminalistics: Biological Evidence (AJS 216). Uses multiple methods of instruction, assessment results, and appropriate technologies to engage students in learning, enhance teaching, and promote student success. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, assessment, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties. The instructor may teach in a traditional classroom setting or in a non-traditional hybrid course incorporating in-person teaching. The immediate need is for an instructor to teach day (morning) classes. May be required to teach at Union Hills and/or Black Mountain locations.

Essential Functions
Teaching, preparing and conducting college-level classes.
Teaches a diverse population of students by incorporating multiple methods of instruction and assessment; May be required to teach in a classroom setting, in-person, online or hybrid, and other alternative schedules and formats.
Develops written syllabi/course materials, evaluates student knowledge of subject matter taught and maintains course grades, prepares and grades exams and other assignments.
Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual teaching skills required to maintain current with new trends and developments in the field.
May assist in advising students; may actively participate in division activities; performs related duties commensurate to the level of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Administration of Justice is an Occupational Teaching Field. The Occupational Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:
A master's degree in the teaching field, OR a master's in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field, OR
A bachelor's degree plus three years work experience in field to be taught OR
An associate's degree or 64 semester hours and five years work experience in the field to be taught OR
Five years work experience in the field to be taught AND
EDU 250 - Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire
Desired Qualifications
1. Master's Degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, or related field.
2. Occupational experience in the field of Forensic Science.
3. Forensic teaching experience.
4. Experience working with a diverse workforce or student population.

- May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs.
