This is a multidisciplinary position under the direction and supervision of the Human Resources Director. This position provides administrative support to the Print Shop. In addition, this position will support other Borough departments, by request, while adhering to the requirements of the department for the duration of the assignment.

This position is half time (20 hours per week).

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; three years’ administrative assistant or similar experience. Skilled in the use of Windows based computers and supporting software including MS Office products. Must type 40 wpm. Experience in reproduction work; knowledge of postal mailing machines and postal requirements. Experience in basic accounting; knowledge in the areas of purchasing and inventory and familiarity with inventory control. Must be able to work with minimum supervision, interacting effectively with the public, and possess excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to work a varied work schedule required. Must have a valid Alaska driver's license to perform all job functions. Use of personal vehicle required.

Essential Functions

1. Greets visitors, answers phone calls, ascertains nature of business and responds to requests for service and information and assists or directs them to the appropriate official when necessary.
2. Provides administrative support to all Borough functions, including mayor’s office.
3. With supervisory direction, may input data into computers; generate reports as directed. Track project costs in various accounts.
4. May maintain work orders and daily work sheet files.
5. P performs printing and mail functions. Receives orders, makes copies and distributes finished work. Performs all mailroom duties as needed.
6. Provides information and processes forms and handouts for assessing, finance, planning, road maintenance or clerk’s office.
7. Handles petty cash and maintain accurate records for these transactions and real property appeals with corresponding fees.
8. Required to operate and troubleshoot all office equipment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to communicate orally and to use hands and fingers dexterously to operate office equipment; regularly required to sit; and occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally transport up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
