Admission Application Evaluator
Job Details and Requirement:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Admission Application Evaluator will participate in the reading, and evaluation of, first-year applicants for the class of 2027. The position requires an understanding of a liberal arts education, and the type of student that would contribute and benefit from it. The ability to contextualize academic transcripts, recommendations, personal statements, and other application material will be highly beneficial. Evaluation training, will take place virtually with application evaluators. After training, readers can read remotely, and will complete 100-200 files per evaluation season based on needs of the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Read and evaluate applications and actively participate in the committee process to select candidates for admission.
Supervisory Responsibility: None.
Work Hours: This is a part-time position working up to 20 hours per week from December 2022 through March 2023. These hours may vary due to needs of the College or department.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- College Admission Experience Preferred
- Understanding a liberal arts education
- Experience handing sensitive and confidential information.
- Attention to detail and time management skills.
Education: Must have two years or more completed in an undergraduate bachelor’s degree program at an accredited institution, preferably another selective liberal arts program.
Experience: No prior reading experience necessary, with previous admission application reading experience preferred. Compensation will be adjusted for previous Pitzer admission application evaluators.
Licenses/Certifications: None.
Working Environment: Work is performed in an office setting with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Work involves interaction with employees, in person, by telephone and by computer.
Physical Requirements: This is generally a sedentary role; however, it requires the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time and the ability to operate a computer for prolonged periods of time.

Preferences: Individuals with work experience in Admission and/or at a private, liberal arts college will be given preference.

For positions requiring the use of a college-owned vehicle, employment is contingent upon a driving record acceptable to the colleges’ automobile liability insurance. Final candidates in all staff positions will be required to undergo a background investigation; in addition some positions may require a physical lift test and pulmonary function test.
