POSITION: After School Program Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Child Care

REPORTS TO: Childcare Director

GENERAL FUNCTION

  • This is a part-time / non-exempt hourly wage position. Due to the nature of YMCA work and the responsibility of this position. Typical work week is Monday through Friday 1:00pm-6pm

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in the childcare profession.
  • The After School Program Coordinator should have experience in staff supervision, office management, and interpersonal communications, with the ability to communicate well.
  • Must remain current in First Aid/CPR/ AED certifications.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be physically capable of lifting a minimum of 30 pounds. Must not have any physical or mental condition that would limit them from performing any physical or mental task that was requested of them or assigned to them.
  • Be able to recognize potential hazards and accidents.
  • Be able to handle confrontational people in a positive and professional manner.
  • Be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable TDPRS standards laws and internal YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities.
  • Know and impart the YMCA Mission Statement and its Core Values into all Child Care programs.
  • Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation to Protective and Regulatory Services or to law enforcement.
  • Responsible for assisting with supervision and coordination of After School Program staff.
  • Assist maintenance and other child care staff in keeping the facility clean and well maintained.
  • Help keep organized and accurate records/files on all children as required by Minimum Standards.
  • Work with all staff to create daily schedules, lesson plans and activities according to program guidelines
  • Help supervise staff work schedules and time off requests.
  • Help provide motivational support and recognition for staff.
  • Communicate with parents by phone or in person when necessary.
  • Adjusting work hours as not to exceed 25 hours in a week.
  • Assist directors in various duties when called upon.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $12.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
