About the Job

After School Program Leaders at the Y of SF provide meaningful and enriching opportunities for youth in programs that are offered at local elementary and middle schools. Program Leaders will help students develop and strengthen academic, physical, and social skills by providing assistance, tutoring, and mentorship in the After School Program. Program Leaders will provide academic enrichment and tutoring in classroom groups of up to 20 students, as well as organize and provide outdoor recreational activities in the school yards. Individuals hired for this position will work under the supervision of the Program Site Coordinators and Directors, and will need to be flexible, willing to take initiative, be punctual, and able to make a commitment to work throughout the entire school year.

  • Belle Air Elementary School: 450 Third Avenue, San Bruno, 94066
  • John Muir Elementary School: 130 Cambridge Lane, San Bruno
  • Parkside Intermediate School: 1801 Niles Avenue, San Bruno
  • Portola Elementary School: 300 Amador Avenue, San Bruno
  • Rollingwood Elementary School: 2500 Cottonwood Drive, San Bruno
  • Fiesta Gardens International School: 1001 Bermuda Drive, San Mateo
  • Thomas Edison Elementary School: 1267 Southgate Ave, Daly City
  • Franklin D Roosevelt; K-8th: 1200 Skyline Dr, Daly City, CA 94015
  • Garden Village Elementary School: 208 Garden Ln, Daly City, CA 94015

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years of age for the elementary school programs, 21 for middle school programs
  • At Least 2 Years of college (48 units), AA degree, or a Pass on After School For All-Excel Qualification Exam (No Child Left Behind-NCLB)
  • Must have experience working with youth (Elementary or Middle School)
  • Must be highly motivated to provide quality program opportunities to youth
  • Must be a team player
  • Knowledge or expertise in youth development
  • Must be comfortable leading physical activities with youth
  • Must be available daily M-F during youth program hours; varies 1:00-6:00 pm
  • Must be willing to participate in bi-annual evaluations and supervision meetings as needed
  • Current YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification (can complete upon hire)
  • Fingerprint background check clearance
  • TB Test clearance
  • Proof of COVID Vaccination is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Bi-Lingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of arts, dance, drama, or sports
  • Knowledge of Zoom and other online interaction platforms
  • Connections in the local Peninsula community

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift
  • After school
  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • San Bruno, CA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:
