Position Summary:
The Group Leader will lead and supervise groups of twelve to fifteen children during our afterschool program with a co-leader. Primary responsibilities include creating and implementing fun activities for their students, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring everyone is having fun! This position is 27.5 hours weekly, from 12:30 pm to 6 pm Monday - Friday, with the opportunity to work more hours.

Responsibilities include:

  • Establish and foster positive relationships with children, staff, and families
  • Manage their classroom and their students' behavior
  • Work with other group leaders and the School-Age Director to develop and implement an interesting and engaging curriculum that teaches the children and helps them to improve their social-emotional skills
  • Provide homework assistance in a small group setting
  • Ensure that all staff maintain a safe, healthy environment for the children, adhering to proper EEC, NAA, Department of Health, and Bureau of Nutrition standards at all times
  • Establish and maintain steady written and oral contact with school-day teachers and schools
  • Work with Program Director to develop specific plans for individual children

Qualifications:
To be qualified as a group leader, you must meet one of the following--

  • Have a Bachelor's or Associate's degree and have three months of experience working with school-age children.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of experience working with school-age children including three months of supervised experience at a school-age child care program.

Additional Qualifications-

  • Certification in CPR/First Aid is required within the first six months of employment.
  • Have passion and commitment to working with and uplifting the voices of the young people we serve.
  • Candidates need to be innovative, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and committed to youth development and school success.
