Description:

Join the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment team to supervise the daily maintenance and flying operations of the Edwards Air Force Base, California Development Foundation Test Force.

Responsibilities include:
  • Manages the general services, repairs, and overhauls of aircraft and aircraft engines to ensure that aircraft are in good mechanical condition and safe for flight.

  • Ensures that the workforce follows appropriate technical instructions and the Consolidated Ground Ops procedures. Makes updates to the Consolidated Ground Ops Procedures and coordinates these updates with the senior maintenance and logistics manager.

  • Provide direction to aircraft supervisors, coordinate maintenance requirements with the aircraft maintenance and logistics manager.

  • Attends the daily maintenance and flight ops meetings. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.

  • Directs periodic inspections and general overhaul and repairs or modifications requiring replacement and assembly of parts.

  • Consults with the Flight Test Control Engineers for specifications and determines feasibility of repair or replacement.

  • Monitors the Autonomic Logistics Information System to ensure maintenance actions are being properly documented.

  • Supports the Logistics Test and Evaluation section with necessary manpower to complete Joint Technical Data (JTD) verification and any Reliability and Maintainability manpower. Realigns manpower as required in support of the daily maintenance and flying operations.

  • Must possess at minimum an Interim Secret Clearance. Must be able to obtain a Final Security Clearance and be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications:


The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:

  • At least six (6) years fighter aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Experience with Fighter Aircraft Operations.
  • Autonomic Logistics Information System experience
  • Experience with of such programs as Aircraft Scheduling/Records Management, Job/Maintenance Control, Configuration Control, Maintenance Information System, Tool and FOD, Time Accounting, Training, Safety, Security, Hazardous Waste Management, and Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience conducting maintenance briefings and leading multiple maintenance disciplines.
  • Experience developing work schedules and assigning tasks.

Desired Skills:


The following Desired Skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from other candidates:

  • An FAA Airframe/Power Plant mechanic license is desirable

  • Flight test experience

  • Previous fighter aircraft experience.

  • Experience developing work schedules for employees.

  • Ability to work in a flexible schedule environment.

  • Multi-system aircraft trained and certified.

  • Experience certifying the training of employees on various aircraft related systems.

  • Possess effective communication skills for coordinating with Flight Test Control Engineer, System Engineers, and Maintenance Logistics Support Manager on schedules, aircraft status and issues as they occur.

Work Schedules:

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate:


The annual base salary range for this position in California or New York City is $105,000 - $197,800. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
