Job Description
HR Title: Analyst Programmer II
Working Title: Analyst Programmer II
General Purpose
Act as technical lead of RMT data team. Develop and implement training programs for REDCap, SAS and other applications. Manage and maintain a variety of data used in support of analytical and/or research projects.

This position reports to the Analyst Programmer, Sr.
Essential Duties
- Act as lead REDCap Superuser. Train and onboard new DOCR REDCap database builders and Superusers, in collaboration with the Manager, IS. Provide front-end support for REDCap users. Participate in REDCap Tuesday office hours. Participate in REDCap committee(s) through national consortium and stay abreast of current trends in use case scenarios. Participate in weekly consortium call. Collaborate on new REDCap functionality at Duke and help in the creation of documentation to support education and use of new features. 20%
- Work with Associate Director, Clinical Research Operations and other member of the data team to improve workflow and processes (e.g., implement standardizations). Develop policies and procedures around REDCap use, in collaboration with Associate Director, Clinical Research Operations. Develop policies and procedures around use of other data tools and systems (e.g., visualization software, SAS or other analytical tools), and minimum documentation requirements for data management projects. 20%
- Serve as mentor to co-workers doing data management. Provide training to co-workers and end-users analytical tools such as SAS, R, Python, or SPSS and data management. 15%
- Use SAS, SPSS or other statistical package to merge, clean and code data for analysis. Work with study statisticians to prepare datasets and conduct analysis. Design and perform data imports/exports. Work with data visualization tools to create dashboards or reports. 20%
- Design, develop, and maintain databases for multiple studies. Assist and advise study teams regarding data collection best practices. Test and debug projects to verify their accuracy and completeness; maintain and revise existing projects to ensure operating proficiency or to adapt to new study requirements. Reprogram/modify the database as needed in order to collect all required study data. Attend study team meetings. Manage competing demands and deadlines from principal investigators/project managers on multiple projects. Maintain awareness of current assignments, allocated effort and project deadlines. 10%
- Develop and teach instructional courses on data provenance, REDCap, and other data management topics, in collaboration with data team leadership. Develop instructional and reference materials for users. Provide informal, one-on-one instruction as needed, both in person and over email or telephone. 5%
- Serve as primary resource for Associate Dean for Clinical Research, DOCR Directors, other DOCR personnel and clients (investigators, project managers and research coordinators, study personnel, statisticians, administrators, etc.) regarding data management and analysis. 5%
- Attend monthly DOCR and weekly data team meetings. Attend DOCR or other conference series presentations as relates to continuing education. 5%
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Education/Training Requirements
Work requires a Bachelor's degree in mathematics or computer science or a computer-related field or equivalent coursework or technical training.
Experience
Work requires two years applications programming experience with some responsibility for systems design and supervision or project coordination. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Skills
Familiarity with SQL, as well as statistical programming software such as R, SAS, or SPSS, and data visualization experience (Tableau, Power BI, R, other) strongly preferred. Prior experience with training development or delivery for data management is a plus.
