MHC Healthcare is seeking an Ancillary Services Manager to join our Laboratory and Radiology Services team at the MHC Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. The Ancillary Services Manager is responsible for daily oversight and supervision of the Laboratory and Radiology Departments, along with the assigned staff at Marana Main Health Center. The Ancillary Services Manager also provides direction to staff assigned to other MHC Healthcare (MHC) locations regarding Ancillary Services processes and procedures. MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 16 sites in Tucson and Pima County. The following qualifications are required:
- Associate degree in relevant field of study
- 2 years’ professional technologist experience in an Ancillary Services department
- 1 year of supervisory experience
- Certification in a laboratory or radiology service specialty
- Computer proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Current Arizona driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MHC)
- Bachelor’s degree
- In-depth knowledge of Laboratory and Radiology services
- Bilingual (English/Spanish

- Implements directives from the Laboratory and Radiology Director and the Chief Medical Officer concerning policies and procedures.
- Selects test methodologies appropriate for the clinical use of the Laboratory and Radiology test menu.
- Verifies test procedures performed and establishes the performance criteria, including accuracy and precision of each test and test system.
- Enrolls the Laboratory in an approved proficiency testing program commensurate with services offered.
- Ensures timely maintenance of continuing education and active licensure for Laboratory and Radiology (Ancillary) staff and sites.
- Establishes acceptable levels of analytic performance and ensures these levels are maintained throughout the testing process in Ancillary departments.
- Ensures patient test results are not reported until the test system is verified to be functioning properly and any required corrective action has been taken.
- Evaluates and documents the performance and development activities of Ancillary staff.
- Evaluates Ancillary staff performance of new standards and requirements, especially when testing methodologies or instrumentation changes occur.
- Maintains the Quality Assurance Program for Ancillary department functions.
- Ensures proper training of Ancillary staff.
- Maintains Ancillary employee site files.
- Develops a budget for the Ancillary Services department with the assistance of the Associate Director of Integrated Operations (ADIO), and provides guidance to staff working within budgetary costs.
- Enforces safety procedures and consults with other supervisors about safety issues.
- Plans workload distribution and ensures proper scheduling of staff.
- Manages timekeeping and other assigned payroll activities, and plans for time off for Ancillary staff.
- Regularly meets with the ADIO, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and Technical Consultant(s) to review policies and procedures, current issues, workflow and electronic medical record (EMR) issues, and Laboratory and Radiology issues; and includes appropriate external stakeholders as appropriate.
- Maintains the Laboratory licensure at a maximum of Moderate Complexity approval limits by accurately maintaining files and logs, preparing for and leading site visits and audits, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining current policy and procedure manuals for licensure.
- Ensures State standards are compiled and maintained for all Radiology equipment.
- Acquires appropriate certifications required to operate equipment for all MHC Health Centers for Ancillary services.
- Ensures proper care and maintenance of all Laboratory and Radiology equipment and related supplies.
- Ensures proper staff training, usage, and supervision of all Laboratory and Radiology equipment.
- Ensures proper maintenance, training, and functionality of all Ancillary Services information systems within the scope of practice.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining positive professional relationships with applicable external reference laboratories, radiology services, and radiologists.
- Responsible for ensuring the status, delivery, and notification of laboratory results and radiology images and reports through effective management and understanding of the EMR, Ancillary Services information systems, and Ancillary and provider workflows.
- Responsible for ensuring STAT orders are handled with priority and confidence from the “order entry” process through “result delivery” and provider acknowledgement for all ancillary services provided.
- Creates, develops, and maintains clear guidelines for Laboratory workflows as they related to EMR ordering, Laboratory Information System (LIS) accessioning, specimen procurement, specimen processing (internal and external), results delivery, and notification.
- Facilitates the understanding, training, and use of the “web-client” module of LIS, to support satellite order entry, release and results delivery.
