Overview & Responsibilities
The Applications Engineer is responsible for technical selection as well as initial commercial preparation of proposals. Through the selection process and preparation of proposals, the applications engineer is required to utilize several tools as well as knowledge and understanding of our equipment design to make a proper selection. Interface with inside sources such as project engineering, project management, quality assurance, and purchasing will be required to support the proper selection and implementation of a project. Reading and interpreting detailed project specifications is required. The Applications Engineer is responsible for preparing budgets using specified tools and knowledge and understanding of the product being quoted. Effective and regular communication by phone, e-mail, or meeting with external customers as well as sales managers and internal customers is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner, so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
You are expected to act in a safe manner at all times and ensure that those around you do not put themselves or others at risk. Safety is everyone’s responsibility. At ALL times working safely is a condition of employment.
Initiate and prepare RFQ’s based on customer’s needs and specifications.
Make equipment selections to meet customer requirements and meet EIC’s good engineering practices.
Interpret and/or utilize internal and external resources to verify specifications and take deviation/exceptions as per EIC policy or direction from Director of Applications Engineering and Contracts Administration. Cross-functional coordination with other departments may be required to make selections and further review of specifications.
Develop preliminary design plans for technical and commercial proposal preparation.
Prepare budgets for quotations as required. Account for items used in budgets, and translate requirements into a deliverable scope of supply.
Prepare Handover documentation when orders are received including export screening activities and order entry into ERP/MRP system.
Maintain communication with internal and external customers, agents, etc. on technical matters.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1 - 5 years' relevant experience, either as an applications engineer for rotating equipment/machinery or related experience. Will consider college grads & more years of experience on a case by case basis.
  • Requires a degree in engineering (mechanical, aerospace, or similar discipline).
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Position is Remote, US based with 5% required travel.
  • Onboarding will take place for 2-4 weeks either in Jeannette PA headquarters or Sparks NV. Company will cover in person required travel/training experience.
