Position Title: Applications Architect
Department / Section: Corporate Affairs-902 / Information Services-213
Reports to: Manager, Application Development and Support
Location: Atlanta, GA (*On-Site)
* Incumbent must work in office in Atlanta three days per week and may work remotely two days per week with manager approval *
Summary:
Responsible for technical design and implementation of new software or extensive software
revisions. Defines product technical requirements, creates high-level architectural specifications
and ensures feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems/platforms. Works in
a constructive and determined manner to execute the strategies and goals determined by
management.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Maintains a very high level of technical expertise in Application Security, Software Development Methodologies, Database Design and Performance Tuning, Business Intelligence / Analytics, Networking Principals, and Server Administration.
- Designs and develops frameworks, reusable libraries and front-end/ back-end components for web and mobile applications.
- Provides technical leadership to the application development team.
- Ensures that uniform enterprise wide application design standards are maintained.
- Collaborates with other stakeholders to ensure the architecture is aligned with business requirements.
- Conducts complex research projects to evaluate methods, technologies and specific software systems.
- Participates in reviews and audits of departmental standards and procedures.
- Leads developers through early stages of product development to ensure architectural constructs are being implemented correctly.
- Participates in team or individual code reviews to provide unbiased assessment of technical quality.
- Provides direction to developers on story sizing, backlog grooming, and release planning.
- Performs trouble-shooting efforts and investigations when necessary.
- Proactively views articles, tutorials, and videos to learn about new technologies and best practices for software development.
- Manages the automation of application build, test, and deployment.
- Resolves problems with minimal supervision and assistance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BS / BA in Computer Science or Information Systems or 10+ years of relevant work
- experience.
- Ability to interpret complex business problems and develop appropriate technology based
- solutions.
- Desire and ability for quick learning of new tools and technologies.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to balance the long-term ("big picture") and short-term implications of individual
- decisions.
- Customer focused attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to setup and maintain build, test, and deployment automations.
- Ability to lead others and maintain individual job responsibilities while providing clear
- communication to management and clients.
- Ability to lead meetings with technical groups and influence outcome.
At least 10 years of experience with a combination of the following technologies:
- .Net Core utilizing the C# language
- Asp.Net WebForms and MVC
- Node.js, AngularJS and Angular
- HTML, JavaScript and CSS
- RESTful API's
- Message brokers such as RabbitMQ, Kaffka or Redis
- SQL Server database design and programming (T-SQL)
