Community Access Services is a private nonprofit organization that provides residential, community, and employment services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who live and work in our community. Serving Oregonians for more than 30 years, we are a trusted service provider dedicated to the advocacy of individuals living with IDD and protecting their human rights. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN AREA RELIEF DSP
As an Area Relief DSP, you support people with disabilities to live their best lives as independently as possible. You provide this support in all locations, traveling between group homes. Your support is needed in many areas of daily living including personal hygiene, self-care, motor skills, vocational skills, work habits, social skills, behavior self-management, community integration, and recreational activities.
You implement the individual support plan (ISP) objectives daily in their homes and in the community. Those you serve may have mobility issues, health problems, seizure disorders, psychiatric issues, or challenging behaviors. You assist them with patience and understanding. Using effective teaching and mentoring techniques, you provide life skills training. You are always careful to model appropriate social skills and behaviors. Conscientiously, you keep accurate and up-to-date documentation as well as promptly report any concerns about health or safety. You find it very rewarding to help individuals with developmental disabilities lead self-fulfilling lives!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN AREA RELIEF DSP
- 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities
- 18 years or older
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check upon hire
- A heart for serving people with intellectual disabilities
Experience serving individuals with disabilities is preferred, but not required. Can you show compassion while maintaining professional boundaries? Are you calm, flexible, and patient? WORK SCHEDULE
This entry-level position offers a full-time schedule. Full-time is typically 4 - 5 shifts/week with the possibility of an additional shift needed. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, pre-scheduled shifts per pay period but may change anytime to meet the needs of our programs.
