One (1) AmeriCorps Member will offer guidance and training on topics related to financial literacy. It will develop modules for self-sufficiency, adequate nutrition and will seek self-management alternatives for those responsible for the children who receive the service. It will establish collaborative agreements and maintain effective communication with the surrounding schools through the Social Workers or personal contact and alliance with the Food Bank. Responsible for the program (files, reports, etc.), supply and distribution of backpacks and take the food inventory.

Member Duties : The AC member will coordinate a monthly food collection at the Food Bank or individual and business donors. These foods will be distributed through the cheerful backpack program weekly; prepare and administer pre/post assessments and workshops on topics such as nutrition, family economics, and job readiness. An average of 30 children and their families are expected to participate in this initiative. At least 18 adult family members must participate in 6 workshops and 60% of them must show better knowledge on issues related to ways they can facilitate access to food for their families. With the support of the educational area, learning activities will be offered interactive to motivate their academic chievement.
