Webber International University is actively seeking applications for an Asst. Athletic Trainer. WIU supports an NAIA Athletic Program consisting of nearly 700 athletes across 24 sports participating in the Sun Conference. Our facilities include two separate Athletic Training rooms, with practice and game fields both on and off-campus. The chosen applicant for this position will bring our department to a staff of 8 full-time Athletic Trainers. We work closely with our strength and conditioning department, as well as the coaches.

Duties and Responsibilities for the Asst. Athletic Trainer:

  • Report directly to the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Determine the base physical status of all incoming student-athletes through a thorough and complete physical examination.
  • Be proactive with coaches in developing programs that will assist in the prevention of athletic injuries. This includes communication on a consistent basis with coaches regarding injuries, rehabilitation of student-athletes, and all other matters that pertain to the medical safety and welfare of the student-athlete regarding their participation.
  • Complete and maintain all insurance documentation, including claim forms, submission to appropriate providers of EOBs, and bills of student-athletes.
  • Provide injury rehabilitation services in such a manner that student-athletes have minimal absences from their sport activity.
  • Work very closely with the institution’s team physician and/or specialists to provide the necessary medical services.
  • Keep updated medical records on a daily basis.
  • Maintain the personal conduct and appearances that reflect favorably on the institution and the department.
  • Keep the Head Athletic Trainer current on all activities, plans, and evaluations relating to projects within assigned areas.
  • Schedule appointments for surgery, imaging, and other medically necessary appointments.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies within the budgetary constraints set by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training
  • Certified by National Athletic Trainers Association Board (BOC)
  • Licensed or eligible for licensing in the state of Florida
  • CPR/AED Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Athletic Training or a related field
  • Previous experience working in a college/university setting
