Purpose of the Position:
Reporting to the Head Soccer Coach, the Assistant Coach, Women's Soccer is responsible for assisting the head coach with all activities of the designated program, including but not limited to, recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes, academic progress of student-athletes, competitive game strategy, budget management, coaching staff oversight, and the program’s compliance with the University and Governing Body while maintaining positive public relationships with the university and community.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Soccer Coach in instruction, administering, planning, and directing the UAH women’s soccer program, to include instruction, games, training, practice sessions, and competitions ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained.
- Assist with recruitment assessment and evaluation of quality student athletes. Fosters open, honest, two-way communication with the head coaches and student-athletes.
- Assist in establishing game plans and execution, set, and communicate appropriate goals and expectations for individuals and team.
- Perform, teach, demonstrate, and train student athletes both on and off the ice the technical aspects of the sport.
- Assist in the management of athletic-related injuries or the aggravation of such injuries during practice sessions and scheduled contests by being knowledgeable of the injuries sustained in the sport and proper prevention methods, directing appropriate pre-training session and pre-contest preparations and warm ups, and arranging for qualified sports medicine personnel or athletic trainers to be available during all training sessions and contests.
- Produces a high performing team capable of meeting and maintaining competitive expectations as determined by University Athletic Administration.
- Demonstrate a sincere interest in the academic progress, personal, and physical welfare of each student-athlete; counsel team members and consult with appropriate College staff as necessary for resolution of issues. Monitor academic and graduation progress.
- Assist in the coordination of game day management.
- Coordinate and work closely with department administrators to coordinate recruitment activity.
- Must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, demonstrated knowledge of basic principles of coaching/team supervision, the ability to effectively coordinate recruiting activities, and the ability to maintain team discipline and instill proper ethical and moral standards.
- Communicate frequently and effectively with admissions representatives.

- Know and comply with the rules and regulations of the NCAA, and related laws and regulations, and work to stay abreast of rule changes, applications, and interpretations.
- Assist in the sport instruction and provide information to ensure that staff members, athletes, and athletics representatives are informed of and comply with NCAA departmental rules and regulations.
- Assist in the management of equipment, inventory, purchases, and maintenance.
- Supervise, assign, direct, and delegate tasks to equipment manager and student workers.
- Completes all administrative responsibilities associated with the program in a timely manner.
- Assist in the management of travel activities and arrangements for competition, recruiting and professional travel. Assist in the coordination of film exchange.
- Assist in the management of an appropriate competition schedule.
- Work cooperatively and effectively with numerous support areas and personnel: facilities and operations, business office, varsity athletics communications, marketing and promotions, athletic trainers, equipment staff, strength, and conditioning.
- Represent UAH, the athletic department, and the soccer program in a positive manner to various internal and external constituencies including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, fans, community, etc.
- Actively promote UAH and the soccer program, promotional materials, and events through the media, speaking engagements, camps, clinics, and community involvement.
- Assist in the coordination of the film exchange.
- Promote and manage the alumni interest in and support for the university’s soccer program through social media, alumni events, regular communication, and other means.
- Provide leadership in the teams’ fundraising activities and initiatives to advance the program.
- Maintain positive and public relations with the University community.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- 1 year of full-time verifiable coaching experience
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of, and adheres to the university’s policies, procedures, and bylaws and maintain compliance with NCAA departmental and university rules, regulations, and governing body
- Must be able to work flexible working hours including evenings, nights, and weekends
- Ability to travel is required
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree is preferred
- Previous university experience is desired
- Goalkeeping coaching experience is desired
Published Salary (if available):
$28,000 - $30,000
