This position is in the Office of Indian Multicultural Education

Summary of Work


The Office of Indian/Multicultural Education offers opportunities and education programs to improve student learning and ensure all students have access to services.

The Assistant Director administers the Title III/English Learners program, assists with supporting the Targeted and Comprehensive School Improvement schools, and collaborates with the Indian Education and Migrant programs within the Indian Multicultural Office. This position works as part of a team to provide timely, accurate technical assistance to schools, districts, and agencies across ND through monitoring and other program requirements. The Assistant Director is also involved in research and interpretation of state and federal laws to provide guidance and technical assistance to school personnel to assist them in meeting the requirements of the law.

Responsibilities include:

  • Administer federal and state civil rights program for English Learners and the Federal Title III program, including the administration of Title III funds and Immigrant funds.
  • Implement and monitor federal program requirements for English Learners and Title III programs.
  • Oversee the application, award, data collection, and monitoring process for the Targeted and Comprehensive School Improvement (TSI/CSI) program.
  • Support the TSI and CSI schools by supporting program coordination to evaluate the implementation of continuous school improvement efforts.
  • Work with ND Regional Education Agencies (NDREAs) and tribal partners to professionally develop and support TSI and CSI schools.
  • Provide research and collect and evaluate data regarding the assigned programs.
  • Assess professional development needs and provide and develop training materials, reports, and professional learning for school teams, NDREA staff, NDDPI team members, and the public on assigned portolios.
  • Collaborate with state, regional, and national organizations and agencies.
  • Facilitate state English Learner Program Advisory Committee (ELPAC).
  • Administer ND Seal of Biliteracy Program.

Minimum Qualifications


Requires a Master’s degree in a field related to the position and three years of professional-level work experience, which must have included experience relating to the program assignment.

Or

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the position and five years of professional-level work experience, which must have included experience relating to the program assignment.
