Position Summary:
The Assistant Director reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the successful management of the childcare & community programs of Neighborhood Center in accordance with the strategic direction set by the Executive Director and the Board.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist the Executive Director in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Neighborhood Center's childcare & community programs.
· Ensure that the programs and services offered by the Neighborhood Center comply with state law and all licensing requirements.
· Ensure the programs and services offered by the Neighborhood Center contribute to the organization's mission and reflect the priorities and philosophy of the Center.
· Provide regular program reports to Executive Director.
· Supervise Childcare Coordinator, Transportation Staff , Administrative Staff and Cook.
· Take primary responsibility, in consultation with the Executive Director, for fundraising including developing program related sponsorships, writing grants, and growing donations.
· Work with the Executive Director to ensure that that the terms and conditions of grants are satisfied, including reporting and tracking obligations.
· Assist Executive Director with managing Center budget and resources in a responsible manner.
· Represent the Neighborhood Center at community activities to enhance the organization's community profile and share information on programming and foundation events.
· Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, the media, funders, and other agencies.
· Work in consultation with the Executive Director to develop and prepare marketing materials.
· Conduct program-related presentations to community organizations when needed.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
· A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children. OR
· A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children. OR
· An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children. OR
· An associate's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 4 years of experience with children.
Other Credentials
· All clearances required under Pennsylvania law for childcare workers.
Experience
· Any combination of training, experience and education which provides required knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties of the position.
· Non-profit experience, working with volunteers and/or marketing experience preferred, but not required.
· Grant writing and fundraising experience, preferred.
Proficiency in the use of computers
· Excellent computer, web, and software skills on PC platforms

· Should possess the personal characteristics generally recognized as essential for non-profit employees, including integrity, initiative, emotional maturity, dependability, courtesy, good judgment, and the ability to work cooperatively with others.
Working Conditions
· The Assistant Director works in the office, classroom, community and event environments both on and off-site.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
