Assistant Editor-Part-Time Job at On Top of the World Communities
We are looking for an enthusiastic Part-Time assistant editor to join our team and participate in all stages of the publication process. Someone who is a team player and is able to meet deadlines.
This position is responsible for:
· Collaborate with the editor-in-chief to research and plan new articles
· Commission articles
· Liaise with team members (e.g. writers, reporters and photographers) ensuring deadlines are met
· Write and edit pieces
· Proofread articles for accuracy
· Suggest possible sources and improvements for pieces
· Choose supporting material, such as images and illustrations
· Follow current events and developments and suggest original ideas
· Use social media and SEO to draw attention to articles
· Provide administrative support to the editor-in-chief

· Proven work experience as an assistant editor
· Strong writing and proofreading skills
· Experience with MS Office, InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop publishing tools
· Familiarity with SEO and social media platforms
· Proficiency in English
· Attention to detail
· Excellent communication skills
· Ability to prioritize and multitask
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Technical Skills)
· High School Diploma
· Must have 1+ years’ experience in newspaper
· Must Speak English
· Speak Spanish a Plus+
Working conditions
The working conditions described are typical of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Typical assignments frequently require that work be:
· Paginating a 20-28 page monthly section using Adobe InDesign.
· Meeting important deadlines
· Schedule meetings
· Edit articles and photographs
Physical requirements
Physical demands are those of a property management site environment. While performing the duties of this job, the individual will require typing, some walking, lifting, and sitting
Certifications or Licenses
· Valid Florida driver license with acceptable driving experience is required.
