Hanover Food Pantry Assistant Manager New Hope Ministries, a respected Christian social service agency, is seeking a caring and professional individual to manage our Hanover Food Pantry. This position requires local travel, a flexible schedule, and occasional evening and weekend hours. This position is considered full-time, non-exempt, with expected annual compensation of $40,000. We are looking for someone who can work independently, is physically active, is good working with people of all ages, enjoys food and feeding others, and has a desire to share the love of Christ by helping our neighbors in need. Qualified applicants shall be Christians who agree with the Statement of Faith of New Hope Ministries, must be at least 21 years of age, should have leadership and food service experience appropriate for a hunger prevention program, and be able to perform the physical demands of work in a kitchen, warehouse, and food pantry.

Qualified applicants will demonstrate good social service and interpersonal skills, have child abuse clearances, possess a driver’s license and clean driving history and have experience in preparing healthy foods. Applicants must complete and maintain first aid, CPR, mandatory reporter training, and ServSafe food certifications. Ability to drive a van, small truck, and forklift required. Employer will provide training. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate cultural competence in working with individuals from different backgrounds. Being bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Provides compassion and care to individuals requesting food assistance according to agency guidelines
  • Sensitive to the needs of people from different cultural backgrounds
  • Promote a spirit of hospitality and create a welcoming environment
  • Oversees food distribution programs at assigned location
  • Oversees production of a daily public meal with the help of agency volunteers
  • Provides leadership and training to food pantry volunteers
  • Administrative duties related to providing food assistance
