Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Engineer, the Assistant Mechanic is responsible for performing manual tasks requiring some specialized skill or knowledge in one or more of the mechanical trades.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Operating a variety of power hand tools.
Operates small motorized maintenance and construction equipment including, but not limited to, lawn mowers, snow throwers, small tractors, and trucks up to a 1 ton.
Assists mechanics and other maintenance personnel in the overhaul, repair, testing, maintenance installation and operation of a wide variety of mechanical equipment in a large wastewater treatment facility.

Assist mechanics, equipment repairer and other maintenance personnel in the maintenance and repair of a large wastewater treatment facility.
Performs repairs or maintenance of pumps, screens, blowers, grit and sludge collection and processing equipment, valves, pipelines, and other equipment as may be necessary, sometimes requiring entering into sewage treatment plant tanks, vessels, channels, pipe galleries, manholes, and sumps to conduct the assignments.
Performs duties related to grounds and building maintenance and other related activities including, but not limited to, snow removal, lawn cutting, painting.
Perform other maintenance tasks and manual labor assignments, as directed by the Maintenance Engineer.
Perform other work-related duties, as directed by Maintenance Engineer.
