Once complete, you will assist with overall day-to-day store operations, including continuous development of effective store associates to achieve desired sales and EBITDA results. Assess the stores’ ability to meet/exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, variety, freshness, cleanliness, food safety and regulatory compliance. Assist with coaching and developing store associates through both formal and informal interactions. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Functions:

• Assist the store director and associates in achieving a favorable customer shopping experience by working with associates to create a store environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated.
• Actively support the store director and other assistant managers in planning, organizing, directing and controlling store activities and operations.
• Oversee the store’s night conditions on scheduled night shifts or anytime the store director is not on site.
• Assist in leading teams in the planning, implementation and execution of merchandising and operating initiatives.
• Observe scheduled shift operating hours.
• Work with department heads and associates to identify store opportunities, develop timely solutions and create action plans to ensure implementation of plans.
• Achieve/exceed weekly, period, and annual sales, wage budgets and profit budgets, and other targeted goals.
• Drive sales by working with department managers to maximize sales and profits, reduce shrink and improve each store department’s contribution.
• Utilize coordinators and other field staff to ensure store departments are achieving sales and profit goals; ensure implementation and execution of division merchandising plans.
• Promote and support strong relationships with local community organizations.
• Assist in building a proactive and productive relationships with union representatives and business agents if the store is covered by a collectively bargaining agreement.
• Provide feedback to the store director, district manager and coordinators on the effectiveness of division merchandising and operational plans/programs.
• Assist the store director in staffing, reducing turnover, increasing retention and improving store operations.
• Provide timely feedback to department heads and associates on individual and department performance.
• Ensure associates and store location comply with laws and regulations applicable to the company.
• Ensure that all current merchandising, customer service, cash control, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, associate and customer engagement rules are being followed.

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:

• Must be 21 or older
• Department manager experience or bachelor’s degree
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Effective interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Current alcohol sellers permit or ability to obtain once employed
