Reporting to and in partnership with the Vice Provost of Regional Leadership or Senior Dean of Regional Leadership Programs, the Associate Dean will provide critical coaching and on the ground support to sitting principals, principal supervisors, and chief academic officers in Relay Leadership Programs and Relay partner networks and districts. The Associate Dean of Regional Support will have opportunities to collaborate with Leadership Programs colleagues in instructional preparation, be a primary contact for network and district leaders via PLCs, coaching, and site visits, and provide critical feedback and coaching to leaders on their outcome driven practice. The Associate Dean of Regional Support will also work with the leadership programs team to influence content and lead sessions for professional learning engagements such as our National Principal Academy Fellowship/National Principal Supervisor Academy and regional instructional leadership programs. Finally, this role will join a dynamic and growing Leadership Programs team at Relay, and as such, have the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from a strong set of experts in the work of school leader development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with local partners to set goals for coaching engagements, regular progress monitoring and communication, cooperation with local stakeholders to remove roadblocks to coaching implementation
- Provide individualized coaching to partner principals, principal supervisors, and/or chief academic officers
- Facilitate regular data and video review/practice lab protocols
- Facilitate problem solving and action planning consultancies
- Conduct network/district site visits using Relay site visit protocols in order to observe and gather data, identify areas of strength as well as gaps, and lead site-based action planning driven by site visit outcomes and Relay leadership programs content
- Grade and provide quality feedback to graduate students on Relay GSE assessments
- Synthesize performance data, track cohort progress and identify gaps in network, district, and participant understanding, implementation and outcomes
- Teach and facilitate Relay leadership professional learning sessions during summer intensive, intersession, and regional trainings
- Complete other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
First and foremost, the Associate Dean of Regional Support, Leadership Programs must share the Relay community's commitment to working together to improve student growth and achievement through phenomenal teacher and leader preparation and training grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. This includes providing teacher preparation programs that set novice teachers up to succeed in the classroom from day one; leadership programs that train new and veteran school and district leaders to best serve their school communities; and teacher-facing professional education that provides ongoing learning to educators. Additionally, for this position we're looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:
- A Master's degree or PhD (required)
- At least three years of school leadership experience as a principal or equivalent role supporting and coaching teachers in a high-needs community with demonstrated K-12 student achievement, including experience with teacher observation and feedback, leading data analysis with teachers, leading school culture, and leading professional development (required)
- Experience managing school leaders and/or network academic and instructional programs as a principal supervisor or chief academic officer (preferred)
- Ability to travel at least 20% (required) and up to 40% time (preferred)
- Experience with Relay leadership programs content, either as a NPAF/NPSA alumnus/alumna or as a leader in a school using Relay leadership program practices (preferred)
- Systems-thinker with strong organizational skills
- Strong team orientation and collaborative nature
- Ability to work efficiently and intensely in an entrepreneurial environment
- Strong interpersonal communication skills in both written and verbal forms
- A demonstrated passion for urban education and closing the opportunity gaps
- Authorized to work in the United States

COMPENSATION
Relay's compensation philosophy is to pay competitively for the education nonprofit market and ensure equity across the institution. Starting compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors including the new hire's qualifications and their region's cost of labor.
The starting salary range for this role is $120,000 to $135,000. The hired candidate can expect to be placed within this range based on their prior experience, as well as the cost of labor for the region they live in. New hires typically are not eligible for a salary at the high end of this range if they live in a region with a low or medium cost of labor. Lastly, Relay is striving towards internal pay equity throughout our organization. Because of this, we do not negotiate salary offers.
