Under limited supervision, uses advanced knowledge and skills obtained through experience and/or training to lead others in relationship management, strategy development and project execution. Provides expertise to guide and mentor team members and proactively develops affiliations with advisors and/or financial planning professionals/organizations to recruit advisors to Raymond James Financial divisions. Maintains extensive contact with internal and external customers to establish and maintain relationships that lead to creating new business. Acts in a professional sales and marketing capacity to help meet division goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and deploy strategies to strengthen external recruiting relationships and increase lead flow. Includes, but not limited to, enhancing operational processes, managing communication roadmap, onboarding new external clients, hosting home office visits and summits.

  • Provide guidance and assistance to team to meet deadline driven objectives and efficiently manage projects.
  • Support marketing initiatives by identifying new ways to introduce Raymond James to financial advisors and industry professionals.

  • Lead the work of others and provide training, coaching and mentoring to less experienced associates.

  • Perform human resource management activities including: identifying performance problems, taking remedial action, evaluating performance, and interviewing and selecting staff.

  • Work with internal and external consultants across multiple affiliations to create onboarding and development plans/programs for recruiting roles, managers, and consultants firmwide.

  • Coach and mentor staff members, identify training needs and create development plans.

  • Develop business development strategies to generate leads.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Concepts, practices and procedures of business development in a financial services environment.

  • Investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry.

  • Principles of finance and securities industry operations.

  • Financial markets and products.



Skill in:

  • Sourcing and developing sales prospects.

  • Developing business development strategies.

  • Maintaining and expanding referral sources.

  • Making outbound sales calls and turning them into sales opportunities.

  • Maintaining relationships with external recruiters.

  • Effective questioning and listening techniques.

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software application to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, spreadsheets, and databases.



Ability to:

  • Lead the work of others and provide training, coaching and mentoring.

  • Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.

  • Research, interpret, analyze and apply information about prospects.

  • Organize, prioritize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Perform fundamental human resource management activities.

  • Use appropriate interpersonal styles and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels to accomplish objectives.

  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.



Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in business development or sales within the financial services industry.

  • OR ~

  • An equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
