POSITION TITLE: Associate Director, National Offshore Wind Institute

DEPARTMENT: Economic and Business Development/National Offshore Wind Institute (NOWI)

PRIMARY LOCATION: New Bedford (National Offshore Wind Institute, 198 Herman Melville Blvd)

REPORTS TO: Director, NOWI

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: NOWI Instructors and other staff as assigned

STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Associate Director, National Offshore Wind Institute (NOWI) provides support to the Director, NOWI and training programs. The Associate Director will be responsible for, oversight of course delivery and instructor and participant management, among other duties. The Associate Director ensures quality education and customer service for all participants at the NOWI.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Director, NOWI with day-to-day operational needs.
  • Hire and maintain certified lead instructors, as well as a talent bench of certified instructors to ensure maximum flexibility of the operation, considering customer needs and department costs.
  • Working with Human Resources, oversee and manage the hiring process of instructors; act as a liaison to Human Resources and Payroll as it relates to NOWI Instructor needs.
  • Coordinate NOWI training schedules, manage change orders, and track participation in trainings.
  • Coordinate and support a variety of training delivery methods, including but not limited to virtual and in-person modalities.
  • Oversee participant registration, attendance monitoring, and documentation of participant trainings.
  • Accountable for the tracking and uploading of training certifications in databases and platforms, such as but not limited to participant reporting to WINDA.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all NOWI constituents, including appropriate resolution of customer complaints to ensure a high standard of satisfaction.
  • Provide support to instructors on equipment needs, including but not limited to procurement, deliveries and tracking.
  • Assist in the oversight of external vendors and staff, including but not limited to; security, IT, pest control, landscapers and maintainers, as it pertains to NOWI operations.
  • Participate in conferences and client site visits as needs dictate.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.

  • Minimum of an Associate degree.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience, such as facilities operations, training delivery or program development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage priorities and assignments in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties with minimal direction, including effective problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as virtual meeting platforms.
  • Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required.
  • The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as business needs require.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: As of January 2022, candidates for employment should be aware that Community College students, faculty, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated. Accordingly, initial employment is dependent upon receipt and verification of full vaccination status records; details of how to fulfill vaccine record verification requirements will be provided during the hire and onboarding process.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Global Wind Organization (GWO), OPITO (Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization) or related industry safety.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an educational environment or training facility.
  • Knowledge and experience working with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Robust understanding and demonstrated inclusion of access, equity and student success practices.
  • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.

POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, non-unit position with benefits, some nights and weekends may be required.

SALARY: Hiring salary $70,000 - $80,000, commensurate with education and experience.
