Under the supervision of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Associate Director of Data-Systems is responsible for the overall administration of Health Information Technology Application and Data-Systems including the implementation, optimization, quality, and day-to-day use of Practice Management, Electronic Health Record (EHR), Electronic Dental Record (EDR), Health Information Exchange (HIE), and affiliated clinical systems. The Associate Director of Data-Systems will direct the day-to-day activities of Data-Systems, manage training programs, lead clinical information-systems projects, and supervise staff. This is a hands-on position requiring a working knowledge of EHR systems and workflows with the ability to implement and support improvements and efficiencies within data-systems applications. The Associate Director of Data-Systems must be able to work effectively with end-users and technical staff and must combine excellent technical and critical thinking skills with a sincere desire to help people use technology effectively. This position will provide leadership to the Data-Systems team including providing oversight of the department’s workload, assessment of each member’s performance, and coaching and mentoring as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides leadership and day-to-day oversight of the Data-Systems Department;
- Develops expert knowledge of all EHR and EDR-related applications;
- Provides project management leadership, status reporting, and oversight of Data-System Projects;
- Designs and implements training plans for staff on EHR and related applications, including the creation of training documents, continuous improvement, and leading hands-on training as needed;
- Develops and documents workflows and Standard Operating Procedures for staff use of clinical applications and systems;
- Creates, implements, and maintains documentation of EHR/EDR systems and change management;
- Oversees Data-Systems’ Help-Desk Team and ensures adequate team coverage;
- Oversees and monitors to resolution escalated trouble tickets with vendor support;
- Identifies team strengths, weaknesses, and training needs. Creates individual development plans;
- Provides cross-training and opportunities for professional growth; Conducts performance appraisals;
- Develops and administers auditing to support data integrity;
- Acts as a liaison between the Health IT Department, clinical staff, operational staff, and vendors;
- Participates in Privacy and Security Committee to help ensure agency compliance with HIPAA and other federal and state regulations;
- Participates in the Quality and Compliance committee to facilitate agency understanding of data reporting, clinical quality indicators, and other measures;
- Leads quality assurance initiatives. Develops clinical quality monitoring systems for data captured by electronic health records systems;
- Actively participates in the management and other collaborative agency meetings to provide systems expertise and input;
- Keeps current on trends and innovations in technology and Health IT;
- Consistently adheres to and/or exceeds Salud’s Communication Guidelines and Expectations with internal and external customers including co-workers, patients, and external partners;
- Communicates effectively by using welcoming words, proper tone of voice, appropriate body language, eye contact, and smiling in all interactions. Knowledge of: Health Care Delivery Systems, Administrative Practices, Health IT Systems, Clinical Applications, Database Management, Database Reporting, Data-Analytics, Electronic Health, and Dental Record Systems.
Ability to: Assume independent responsibility for assigned projects and tasks. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with people of different backgrounds. The ability to work on several projects simultaneously with strong analytical skills. The ability to focus on detail; ability to identify potential issues and participate in their resolution. The ability to communicate well both in writing and verbally. To perform job duties accurately, effectively, and promptly and present information publicly in internal meetings.
Requirements:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree, Industry Certifications, or equivalent work experience required;
- Two years of Health Care Management experience;
- Two years of Information Technology or related Project Management experience;
- Experience with Greenway Intergy and EPIC EHR systems preferred;
- Organized and detail-oriented, ability to work independently with excellent communication skills, both verbal, and written;
- Strong technical writing and editing skills with the ability to interpret and clearly package ideas;
- Understanding of Health Care Delivery, Electronic Health, and Dental Record Systems;
- Knowledge of Management Principles and Practices including Budgeting, Project Management, and staff supervision.

- Standing, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, bending, moving, and/or lifting to 25 pounds.
