As an Associate Director, Strategy at WONGDOODY you are a partner to Creative, Account, and UX teams. You understand the nuances of people, culture, and brand to inform experience strategy. You bring a human lens to brand building and campaign strategy. You understand technology and user personas across digital platforms. You know this space and can lead qualitative and quantitative insight research projects from start to finish.

Our ideal candidate has rich agency experience and has dabbled in the worlds of start-ups and brand strategy, tech innovation, disruption of industry norms, and deep expertise in insight research. But most important is your unique ability to identify and apply insights about human behavior, beliefs, and culture to digital and physical brand experiences.

This is a multifaceted role spanning brand positioning and marketing campaigns to digital and physical experience.

The Associate Director Director must be proactive and independent as they lead their aspect of projects. Ultimately you've got the responsibility to brief, nay, inspire insanely talented creative counterparts! While this position and cross-functional team are located in New York City, we are open to remote candidates as well.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Craft a vision for clients and design a strategy to get there, whether it's defining a brand purpose, understanding, and defining client's business objectives, and setting KPIs
  • Co-lead client business with your business, creative, CX, analytics, and tech partners to not only figure out how things work but to come up with something new e.g. new opportunity areas…new ways of working…and new ways for people to experience our clients' brands, products and services
  • Be the lead strategist and author of all key strategic deliverables for your projects/accounts (with support from VP, Head of Strategy)
  • Contribute to growing business organically with existing clients and with securing new business
  • Develop omnichannel strategies – marketing campaigns, digital experiences, products and services
  • Lead various forms of qualitative and quantitative research including client stakeholder interviews, moderating focus groups and surveys through our MotherBoard and SoundingBoard proprietary insights panel
  • Interpret insights and using them to create persuasive and actionable strategies, gaining consensus from clients and inspiring creative and design development
  • Translate those insights into pithy, focused creative briefs whether it's for a campaign, app, website or experience
  • Mentor and guide strategists to support and contribute to strategic projects through competitive, experience, and brand messaging audits and research stimuli
  • Lead, co-lead, and participate (as appropriate) in client facing workshops (currently remote)
  • Ensure that the approach contribution for strategy within client projects is accurately represented in scopes of work (SOWs)
  • Partner with Business Development to pitch for new business and present our approach and ideas

WHAT YOU'VE GOT

  • Strong understanding of people, customers, and users as well as their associated needs, motivation and behaviors
  • Knowledge of market problems and developing strategic recommendations which deliver on growth opportunities through bringing products or services to market
  • Appreciation or the impact of brand and experience and the importance of maintaining brand integrity
  • Experience with start ups, launching new brands and the health and benefits industry is a bonus
  • Kindness, empathy and a sense of humor!
