Overview:
Job Summary

The Infrastructure Department conceives and delivers the Authority’s infrastructure project pipeline, through initial feasibility and business case development to financing and delivery (i.e end-to-end). This includes the New Jersey Wind Port, a first-of-its-kind major greenfield infrastructure project located in Salem County, Southern New Jersey, which the Authority is developing on behalf of the State.

Reporting to the Director - Pre-Construction/Construction or their delegate, the Associate Engineer will be a key member of the Wind Port delivery team. This is an entry level position. It requires a technical mindset, as well as strong problem-solving, organizational, time management and stakeholder management skills.

This is an unrivalled opportunity to work on one of the State’s and nation’s most significant and impactful infrastructure projects, with exposure to all aspects of project delivery (e.g. planning, permitting, design, construction, handover, operations) and the potential to quickly scale responsibility. The role would ideally suit candidates with strong organization skills, an aptitude for technical problem-solving, and a desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced but supportive team environment. The position will require frequent and at times daily travel to the construction site in Salem County.

$65,484 - $81,855

Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a managers approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Contribute across multiple technical workstreams from inception through to completion under the direction of senior engineers and project managers.
  • Provide input to design decisions from feasibility through to detailed design completion.
  • Support the review of daily field reports and attend weekly project meetings with NJEDA’s designer, CM, property landlord and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Support the development and ongoing refinement of keystone project documents including project management plans, risk registers, and schedules.
  • Interface with a range of project stakeholders and help to ensure effective collaboration and workstream coordination.
  • Prepare technical briefings for project and NJEDA leadership.
  • Actively contribute to best practice project governance and continuous improvement through participation at project team meetings and via proactive identification.
  • Research and investigate latest advances in Offshore Wind Engineering & Design. Prepare documentation to convey collected information.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ability to competently prepare PowerPoint presentations, database skills, and the ability to learn new software packages (e.g. BIM 360)
  • Demonstrated proficiency for creative and analytical problem solving, including an ability to deconstruct issues, frame up solutions, and communicate recommendations to leadership
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including a demonstrable capacity to tailor communications to different audiences
  • Ability to build relationships with project stakeholders, including at senior levels, and to secure buy-in to technical solutions
  • Strong presentation skills, including experience presenting at senior levels
  • Familiarity with the use of CAD and/or GIS software preferred

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering – candidates working towards a degree will be considered.
  • Relevant experience attained through part-time work or an internship will be highly regarded.

Physical Demands
  • Minimal
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours, as needed
  • Ability to work outdoors on an active construction site with uneven terrain and on or near water


Travel

  • As necessary to project site, events, meetings, businesses, etc.


Certificates and Licenses Required

  • License: Staff are required to possess a valid driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position
