JOB SUMMARY
This dual role includes the provision of direct patient care 50% of the time and management of the organization’s managed care and risk bearing programs such as the REACH ACO, supporting IPA relationships, and engaging in revenue maximization efforts 50% of the time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Staff Physician
o Provide medical services to the patients of CCHC, inclusive of all functions necessary to provide quality medical care.
o Comfortable using new technology, including but not limited to CCHC’s telehealth platform, and demonstrating flexibility with frequent change and platform product improvements.
o To stabilize and refer when necessary patients presenting to office in need of urgent care regardless of whether the patient falls within the category normally seen by that physician.
o To examine and treat any patient assigned to another provider or assist in the triaging and rescheduling should that other provider be unable to attend or complete their office duties for emergency reasons.
o To complete the patient charts according to the usual accepted standards of the medical practice and according to the specific requirements set forth by the medical record criteria requirements.
o To assist in obtaining lab specimens from their patients should difficulty be encountered in obtaining such specimens.
o To complete any requirements needed to maintain a medical license, board certification or admitting privileges at the hospital to which they admit their patients.
o To participate in the on-call schedule as set forth by the Medical Director.
o To supervise Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in the area of the physician’s specialty.
o To serve as preceptor for medical students, nurse practitioners, physician assistant students, and residents as assigned by the
- Medical Director.
o To be familiar with and adhere to all of the medical offices policy and procedure manuals.
o Serving as supervisory physician for the mid-level providers regarding clinical issues and State regulatory requirements.
o To participate in any Quality Assurance activities and assist with any audits necessary to complete QA activities or specific program requirements.
o Continually advise administration of any issues that may impact the practice.
Requirements:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Doctor of Medicine degree
- Minimum of five years-experience, with increasing responsibilities in a healthcare service organization, IPA, MSO or health plan
- Experience working with physician practices
- Advanced management degree or board certification in medical management preferred

- Strong documentation skills.

- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff.
- Ability to use the computer and learn new software programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills reflecting clarity and diplomacy and the ability to communicate accurately and effectively with all levels of staff and management.
- Demonstrates ability to work in a regulatory climate that includes oversight of state and federal entities, payer contracts etc.
- Possesses ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Possesses genuine respect for others and acceptance of their individual social and cultural traits.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
- Able to travel and attend professional meetings, conferences, trainings, and clinic sites (contracted and owned).
- Demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to cooperate while working with others in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to perform each essential duties satisfactorily.
- Ability to read and interpret documents that are at times highly complex relating to legal and financial matters.
- Ability to write sophisticated reports and correspondence and to present information in an easily understandable manner.
- Ability to speak and present information effectively with all constituencies: Board of Directors, physicians, clients and employees of Comprehensive Community Health Centers, REACH ACO contractors, and other participants in managed care ventures.
- Must have strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables in solving problems and the ability to understand complex business concepts.
- Possesses the ability to organize and prioritize work without supervision.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires prolong sitting, some bending, lifting, stooping and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard photocopy machine, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is also required. Employee must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.
