Job Functions (Essential)

  • Develop competency in quality of procurement and supply of materials, and products related to diesel engine manufacturing and development
  • Work with suppliers to define specific quality requirements and standards; including development of inspection, verification, qualification and statistical process control methods
  • Provide guidance to suppliers toward achieving part certification compliance with engineering drawings and specification
  • Perform Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for Production and/or Aftersales supplied parts
  • Assist in developing and prioritizing an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure ISO-9001, process control capabilities and quality standards are met
  • Assist in conducting supplier audits to determine compliance with safety, emission and control characteristics
  • Assist in coordinating / gathering data for any Corrective Actions in Field
  • Track, record and analyze failure trends, identify issues, drive root cause analysis, recommend corrective actions and communicate high priority issues to management
  • Ensure only product conforming to MTU America quality standards is available for sale to customers through physical (sorting, inspection, etc.) and systemic means
  • Assist in coordinating qualification testing for operation and performance of equipment, engine components and systems
  • Work closely with purchasing team in new source development and work proactively in a commodity team environment
  • Write and review technical quality documents, plans and procedures as well as write and distribute quality data and reports
  • Maintain Quality Assurance Programs and procedures, assure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Keep abreast of specifications, changing regulations and industry standards
  • Manage accuracy of inventory on quality hold and ensure all gages remain in calibration
  • Coordinate continuous improvement projects to ensure both the quality area and capabilities are maintained or improved
  • Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct.
  • Perform special projects as required.

Qualifications:

Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; or 4 years of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of statistical process control.
  • Basic understanding of geometric tolerating and related gauges
  • Basic ability to work in cross-functional team environment
  • Self-starter possessing strong initiative and teamwork
  • Must be willing to travel to supplier and customer sites as required
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office
  • Ability to lift 30lb minimum without assistance
Preferred:
  • Experience translating engineering drawings and specifications into quality planning
  • Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing processes
  • Experience in a manufacturing

Daily work is performed in an office, general manufacturing environments. This position has a Monday through Friday work schedule, as business requires.
While performing tasks of this position, the employee is regularly required to operate a computer inside the facility. Next, an employee will be occasionally required to come in contact with wet or humid conditions. Finally, this position within the work environment, employees are occasionally requested to endure noise while performing daily tasks.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, or reach within the facility. Also, the employee will occasionally be required to grasp items to carry that are 10-25 pounds once per day. Finally, the employee is occasionally required to push or pull items that 10-25 pounds once per day.

Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, see color and the employee must have the ability to adjust focus.
