About You and this Role

The Tester role is responsible for assisting product teams across our international offices deliver on their quality initiatives. Teams often have a wide variety of tasks that can often fall on the back burner to more urgent or pressing concerns - this backlog can lead to diminished confidence in product quality. These tasks include the validation of defect reports (internal and external), the development, maintenance, and execution of manual test cases, and the writing of test case scenarios and automated tests.

The ideal candidate for the Tester role is resourceful, independent, flexible, has high intellectual curiosity, and has a spirit that is humble and eager to learn. Candidates for this role should be very comfortable with using a computer, willing to ask questions, and capable of following directions, and quickly learning basic testing tools and workflows. Candidates should be comfortable communicating across different roles and cultures, and teams, all the while inspiring and motivating others through technical excellence and best engineering practices.


Key Objectives

  • Write and execute basic automated and manual test cases based on written and/or verbal requirements.
  • Review and validate existing defect reports.
  • Write clear, concise defect reports following QA standards and processes.
  • Able to perform automation analysis and basic root cause analysis on failures.
  • Demonstrate beginner level automation test writing and test fixes that require some review.
  • Demonstrate basic-level ability to set up different testing environments.
  • Demonstrate proactive communication.
  • Complete tasks by deadlines.


Required Qualifications

  • Capable of following written or verbal directions
  • Self-directed in learning about Liferay and related technologies
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills to break down issues into their most simplified parts


Preferred Qualifications

  • Windows CLI and/or Linux experience
  • Familiarity with Selenium or other testing tools
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages or familiarity with HTML, CSS, or other frontend framework
  • Typing speed >= 50 WPM
