Minimum Requirements:

Position Description:

The Sport Science Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the partnership between UofL Health and UofL Athletics by coordinating sport science services in the Athletic Department. They will support the mission of the Athletic Department's sport science division: to facilitate comprehensive integration of student-athlete health and performance through service, research, education, and innovation. The position will report to the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Health and Performance and work closely with UofL Health's Director of Sport Science to ensure delivery of cutting-edge sport science services and resources to athletes, support staff, coaches, and administration.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage wearable technology and data for all University of Louisville teams
  • Support implementation of all other sport science technologies, by establishing standard operating procedures for existing and new products, training staff on their use, and developing self-sufficient data management and reporting systems
  • Attend regular health and performance and coaching staff meetings with each sport
  • Provide direct athlete-facing services based on previous education and experience
  • Coordinate key research, education, and innovation projects and initiatives
  • Maintain Sport Science Lab operating hours and testing schedule
  • Facilitate collaboration with academic, healthcare, community, and industry partners
  • Fulfill all above-stated duties and responsibilities through recruitment, supervision, and mentorship of several sport science interns
  • Oversee the sport science budget and ordering
  • Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Post-graduate degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • Five (5) or more years of technical experience as a health and performance professional in an elite sporting environment
  • Experience delivering in a high-pressure, high-performance environment with elite athletes and coaches
  • Experience capturing, analyzing and delivering objective performance insights from GPS, heart rate and other wearable sensors
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills combined with ability to take complex concepts and communicate simply
  • Ability to motivate, educate and lead staff
  • Understanding of evidence- based research
  • Knowledge of sport science, analytics and innovation trends
  • Previous supervision of full-time and unpaid staff
  • Formal contributions to the health and performance industry, through research publication, conference presentations, etc.
  • A broad range of talent and experiences, such as working across a range of sports and levels (e.g., collegiate, Olympic, and professional), invention and entrepreneurship, diverse hobbies, etc.
