Position Summary:
A full time position responsible for delivering primary dental care in an integrated medical facility in Las Vegas. The Attending Clinical Dentist functions as a clinical team member to participate in the center's oral health program. The Attending Clinical Dentist reports to the Chief Clinical Officer of the company.
The Center
Located in the city of Las Vegas, NV, this new, innovative Center provides coordinated medical, dental and vision primary care to a diverse patient population working in the service industries in Las Vegas. This new facility serves between 18,000 and 22,000 active patients. Services provided include primary adult and pediatric medical care, comprehensive oral health care, optometric vision, pharmacy and diagnostic radiology. The dental facility contains 17 state-of-the-art operatories, supported by a sophisticated Electronic Health Record/Practice Management Solution, digital radiography, digital imaging, and associated technologies. The Center operates a medical staff of which the Attending Clinical Dentist will be a member. In addition, there is a relationship with an area hospital for the provision of complex oral health treatment in a medically sophisticated environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Serves on the dental and medical staff of the center.
- Has a role in the recruitment and training of the dentists and other licensed professional dental staff. When fully staffed we anticipate 5 full time dentists in addition to the Chief Clinical Officer.
- Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and performs and/or directs the delivery of appropriate care to address any disease or findings.
- Assists in the development and implementation, at the direction of the Chief Clinical Officer, of appropriate treatment guidelines and quality measures for the delivery of care at the center.
- Participates in the development of policies, protocols and procedures which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards.
- Assists in the provision of continuing education for the center's staff as requested.
- Assists in the coordination and integration of the company's dental programs and services with other company programs.
- The Attending Clinical Dentist maintains compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and center rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry.
- As directed by the Chief Clinical Officer, performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals and objectives.
- It is anticipated that the Attending Clinical Dentist will devote approximately 10% of his/her time to administrative duties, with the remainder in provision of direct care.
Schedule:
- This position is Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays. Specific hours to be negotiated.
Education and Training:
- Graduation from a United States accredited dental school
- Completion of a hospital based general practice residency is preferred, other post-graduate formal education may be acceptable
- Minimum of 1-year clinical post-graduate experience required
- An understanding of the delivery of appropriate care, based on evidence and diagnosis
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills required
- Willingness and credentials to obtain hospital staff privileges a plus
Licensure and Credentials:
- Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Nevada, or ability to achieve same.
- Current CPR/BLS certification. ACLS preferred.
- DEA registration
Skills:
A comprehensive knowledge and application of primary dental care in an outpatient setting is a must. The Attending Clinical Dentist must be able to work with other health professionals to deliver coordinated care in this fully integrated care model. This will require participating in the facilities medical staff and being an active contributor to the overall care and wellbeing of patients. The facility is designed to deliver appropriate care to patients of various economic and social backgrounds and the Attending Clinical Dentist must be able to be cognizant of the impact of those factors on the patients
Compensation:
Salary compensation will be based on experience and skills. The Attending Clinical Dentist will be a full time employee of the company and as such will be eligible for benefits provided for employees at similar employment levels. Currently this includes paid vacation time, health, dental, vision, and disability insurance for the employee and immediate family, and participation in a retirement benefit program. Professional liability insurance will be provided by the company.
