Job Title: Bartender

Reports To

Manager on Duty

Job Summary

Provide friendly/responsive/timely hospitality, demonstrate exceptional service skills & knowledge, and prepare the highest quality beverages to create a stellar dining experience for all guests. Each bartender’s primary objective is to show guests a marvelous time and build rapport with guests to encourage frequent return visits & to create a bar crowd so that they will return, write positive reviews, and tell their friends & family.

Duties

Pri Primary

• Stock refrigerating units with wines or bottled beer or replace empty beer kegs.
• Follow RVA Hospitality’s “Steps of Service”.
• Ask if guests valeted, and drop off valet ticket at valet stand.
• Attend all scheduled employee meetings & offer suggestions for improvement.
• Foster a clean/safe workspace for yourself & others.
• Always uphold the highest standards of conduct & maintain a positive attitude.
• Prepare/serve alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the restaurant’s standard drink recipes. Ensure that proper garnishes for all beverages.
• Check IDs to verify age requirements to purchase of alcohol.
• Clean/sterilize glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
• Ensure all receipts are closed out by end of shift.
• Record drink orders accurately & immediately after having received them into the register system.
• Attempt to limit problems & liability related to guests’ excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading guests to stop drinking or ordering transportation for intoxicated guests.
• Stock bar with beer, wine, liquor, and other supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins, or straws.
• Present drink menus, make recommendations, and answer questions regarding beverages.
• Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from guests seated at the bar.
• Clean bar counters, sinks, utensils, shelves, storage areas, and tables.
• Reset tables in the bar area.
• Mix ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitter to prepare cocktails & other drinks by ABC law.
• Serve snacks or food items to guests seated at the bar.
• Prepare garnishes for or drinks by slicing and pitting fruit.
• Ask guest who become loud & obnoxious to leave, or talk to management about removing them.
• Arrange/maintain glasses & bottles in an attractive, functional manner to support efficient drink preparation, promotion of beverages, and attractive displays.
• Report any issues with equipment and bar maintenance to the restaurant General manager.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $35.00 per hour
