    Job Summary: Under the general direction and supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Basketball Score Keeper is responsible for operating the scoreboard, maintaining the scorebook, recording game results and set-up/tear down of scorer’s table.
    Qualifications: General basketball knowledge, experience operating a scoreboard and maintaining a score book (preferred), availability on week nights, in particular Monday nights and Saturday mornings & afternoons.

    Required Knowledge or Traits:
    1. Have a basic knowledge of Park District policies & procedures concerning the basketball programs. Always maintain a sense of loyalty to the Park District.
    3. Ability to be flexible and adaptable to new situations.
    4. Ability to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations and remain professional while multi-tasking several job responsibilities.
    5. Ability to analyze situations and make decisions.
    6. Ability to work harmoniously with all employees in all departments within the Park District.
    7. Ability to communicate with coaches, players and officials in a clear and concise manner.
    9. Ability to work with a good attitude towards coworkers.
    10. Ability to accept the responsibility to be punctual and practice good attendance.
    11. Ability to accept constructive criticism or supervision.
    12. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Set-up/tear down of scorer’s table
    a. Wireless scoreboard remote
    b. Game bag with basketballs, arrow, scorebook, league binder, etc.
    c. Player benches (4 total), table and two chairs
    2. Going over game rules with officials.
    3. Handing out and collecting team rosters.
    4. Operating scoreboard/game clock while maintaining scorebook.
    5. Recording final game scores and reporting to Recreation Supervisor.
    6. Report any and all major situations to the Recreation Supervisor immediately.

    PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
    The score keeper may feel pressure due to:
    a. The responsibility of effective and efficient delivery of services
    b. The need to resolve situations and problems with the players, parents, officials, and staff
    c. Multi-tasking job responsibilities.

    PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
    Score keepers will be exposed to many activities that may require, including but not limited to, prolonged sitting, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.

    COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS
    1. Must be able to work independently.
    2. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing, following directions, and read English.
    3. Must possess time management and organizational skills to effectively perform score keeper responsibilities.
    4. Must possess good problem solving skills and have the capability to act rationally and calmly in emergency situations.
    5. Must be able to represent the Park District of La Grange in a courteous and professional manner.
    6. Must be able to make judgments with respect to confidentiality of information and problem solving.
    7. Must exhibit good safety awareness and judgment in all aspects of the position.
